A nicely composed shot with good detail in the feathers. The horizon line is straight and the subtle colors look natural. Good composition with the bird well located in the frame.

Well it's a fine shot of a Heron, but it is not a Blue Heron they have yellow bills and are twice the size.
You have found an immature Little Blue Heron in it's first year.
It will take another year before he is blue. They are born white.
Great eye clarity, exposure and fine shutter speed to get the stop action needed.

Yes.. Great blue heron or what they. All blue heron or grey heron. Much larger.. you can look in my portfolio to see him spotted.. I have several posted.
I never saw one almost solid like this yet.
But they are size of Snowy Egrets or Tri-Colored herons.
So it's called a immature Little Blue Heron because he has another year to change.
