Abstract Crater

Abstract impression of a crater

Fire is coming up from the center of a volcano, spitting dark minerals, perhaps obsidian. White clouds of steam are all around it. It might happened millions of years ago or it happens right now. Some in nature never seem to change while nature is always changing. You abstract is full of symbolic. It is also well framed and balanced and makes the viewer think about.

Why have I run out of 6s just when I see a masterpiece that I absolutely love. The way you created the effect is genius. To me it looks like waves crashing over rocks. The center is the drama of the impact.

I thought perhaps you have been seeing too many images of the eruptions on Hawaii. An interesting technique and a nicely composed image with great colors.

From your artist notes I think it safe to say - you love your art.

Before I saw the title or read your notes I looked at this post and the first thought I had was "This is like a photo from a Satellite ." It looks like a topographical representation of a depression/crater.

An awful lot of work went into this piece. No wonder you kept the size limited to 7" X 5".

Great attention getting color combos.

Well done ... B-)) Bob

I see your crater and raise you a crashing wave against the jetty rocks.
I love the colors, sense of movement and the way the colors all blend well in Perfect harmony.
Nice work Suzanne :)

This indeed abstract, but I understand the title, because I do see a crater. I like very much the color pallet and the contrast between cold and warm colors, and also all the great textures.

Your brush strokes are bold, and I like very much the added high lights adding depth to the painting.

Why do you add coconut milk ? I have never heard about anyone doing this, so I am just curios. LOL

Anyway, I also think it is a fine flow and balance in this abstract, and it is great looking and well done painting.

Thanks so much for your great review. I'm experimenting at the moment with different additives to the paints and the coconut milk can create interesting cells and shapes (also smells really good!). I'm having fun so I'm really pleased you like this one. Suzanne

Suzanne,
A beautiful & colourful image that makes me think I'm looking down from a plane at a tropical island with plenty of trees surrounded by the sea with rain clouds overhead blown about by the winds that are also stirring up the sea so it lashes the shore. Created with your artist's eye for composition & colours & how they react when mixed. Susan

Coconut Milk this time!! You are just amazing Suzanne. I look at your pieces just just dying to see what new and unusual method you're using next.

I see your crater. Wonderful what the coconut milk has done to the color at the center. Your straw and coconut methods have combined really nicely here to make an abstract crater. Cannot wait to see what else you come up. Sounds like you have so much fun creating these pieces!
