You go Girl!! I love this image! I know your flowers are gorgeous without any mixing of the media. But this one is a work of art! Seriously! The golds and burnt umber with that bit of white tips are gorgeous! And I know you cannot do this without an excellent initial capture! So you have had a double success! Because this is a beauty. A definite framer!

Your notes are calling attention to a serious issue for those wanting to enter our country.... perhaps in a bit different style than our ancestors did at Ellis Island. The children have been caught up by the horrors of their own country and the choices made by their parents and the laws of a government that are so political that no one can know the truth. The news is so biased and lacks the integrity to seek the truth and tell the truth. They just want to create division and sensationalism. Lawmakers need to drop the party lines and unite our own country. There are many children here ...born here...who are suffering in poverty and filth and abuse right under our noses. Ask our daughter who is a nurse and a home health provider for the Neonatal unit at our hospital. Her strength never wains when she is helping the children. And that is what is needed by anyone who can help any children...the strength to do it....help them...all of them!

I really appreciate your heartfelt comments here Becky. I agree w/ you re: the children who suffer in our own country. It's shameful....doing what has been done to these immigrant children doesn't help them....it only makes the plight of ALL the children more shameful. I could never do what your daughter does. I know how proud you must be of her. As for my image- I am soooo pleased by your comments re: my first and only MM piece! Thank you VERY much for them and for the wonderful rating.

Yes, it is not-human and very hard to understand, but this is the way things are going for centuries all over the planet

I wish I knew what to do to stop it

THAT is the next big question isn't it John??? Almost 2500 children.....moved to states all over the country. Lord knows I hope they can all be reunited w/ their frantic parents before too much times passes. You are a doll for the cyber six but really I want to just thank you for reading the notes as well. I so appreciate that.

Now Trump has changed his mind after seeing some childs distressing images taken by a journalistic photographer, which is a good thing.
Can see your point of view Deborah, but heres the rub, your photo is quite stunning and to me can,t see the reference to your notes in regards to this photo.
Its interesting how we all perceive images and what one person thinks might be totally different to someone elses, still it is a good photo...Brian
p.s. I thought you were no longer on here

LOL well I wasn't Brian....and then I was. Was a head snapping few days but you're right. I was tossed off the site and a few days later my account was re-instituted. Also understand you not thinking my photo 'bad' enough for included notes. I did go back this morning and try to explain myself better. Have a look if you have time. See if my edit on notes helps explain my image better. ...and thank you for your thoughts. Always appreciate them.

The story behind this piece of art is touching as well as revealing. But I don't see the horror in the photo. I see beauty surrounded by darkness. The beauty is the children, and the darkness is them being taken from their parents. Such an amazing object d'art. Thank you for sharing both the story and the wonderful photo.

I tried changing the wording a bit Nancy. I had tried to explain that I didn't have an image horrible enough but apparently that wasn't very clear b/c you are not the only one who commented that they didn't see the 'horror' Check it out if you have time and see if I cleared it up at all. Regardless, I want to thank you for having a look and for including your thoughts. Do really appreciate it.

You are welcome Deborah. I was drawn in by the story, and found a truth in the art you produced. Thank you for that.

You're very kind Nancy and YOU got the image even if I didn't do a great job explaining why I used that particular one.

    You are most certainly welcome.

You have created and interesting piece here.
I don't know if it has the effect you were hoping for completely as I see some beauty in here.
But, I agree with your footnotes. It has to stop.

As I explained at the beginning of my notes Sharon I couldn't come up w/ a 'horror' type image so chose this one instead. If it got you to read the notes it did it's job...lol So I thank you Sharon for having a look AND for reading the accompanying artist's notes.

Whoa! What a great if not dramatically abstract to represent all the terrible situations that have developed on the border. his says it all BB. The natural beauty of life has been perversely twisted and mangled. The only good from all this is that Maybe Congress will get off their dead ars and DO Something about the current laws. Anyway, love this one BB ~ BB

My first and only Mixed Media piece BB. Was the only thing I could come up with. Just HAD to have SOMETHING to go along w/ my notes lol Don't typically write my notes first but that's what I did this time. Anyway, you know how much I appreciate YOU commenting on one of my pieces. Thank you BB.

I understand your intention. The image is indeed tangled and twisted as the whole problem. The dark background amplifies the twists and tangles. I am not sure if people will understand your intention without reading your comments, but I think your image will make people reading and thinking about.

I hope they read the notes Cleo but I understand they are long and some viewers really dislike long notes. Thank YOU for reading them and for trying to understand why I decided on this particular image to go along w/ them. I really do appreciate that.

    Always, you're welcome.
Some will read, others won't. There is nothing you could do about it, Im afraid.

Excellent notes, Deborah, and I agree with you 100%. I hope the outcry will register with this stubborn President. Some times a filter can create magic as it does in this case. An originally striking photo I am sure has been transformed into a dramatic visual masterpiece. In my opinion, no one viewing it could not resist to open up the post and read your notes. So, it will accomplish its goal while also being fabulous art. Should be a top contender for Mixed Media of the Month. Bless you! Ed.

awwww...dear Ed. Thank you so much for that. My first Mixed Media post EVER and while the subject is difficult you absolutely made my afternoon w/ your comments about the image I used to go along w/ it. I know the notes are long but I just had to say something about this travesty. So thank you for your thoughts AND your very wonderful rating! You are a doll!

I just heard on the radio that this policy has been amended. I certainly hope it is true. An eye catching image with great colors. I am not generally a big fan of these filters, especially the fractalius filter. It does, however, remind me of one of the many objections I have to our president and politics in general. During the campaigns I get lots of calls and I tell them that "I never vote; it only encourages the bastards". While that is not true it does get the canvassers to hang up.

I hope so too MM....but we both know he lies...a LOT. Regardless, I am hoping there has been enough of an outcry in our country to put a stop to this...for good. I never use filters- EVER. This, in fact, is the first MixedMedia piece I have ever posted. Simply couldn't find a flower in my archives that matched my outrage. btw- had to laugh at your response to endless political calls MM. Will have to remember it next political cycle. Thank you for commenting on this important issue.
