Oh, this is lovely.
I really like the way the birds wings are done with nice detail.
Your tree in total blossom is very pretty, what kind of brush did you use to make he flowers. Or did you just do them one little pink petal at a time?
The branch stands out nicely. And the sky in the background is done really well.
A vacation memory to view forever, Nice piece, thanks for sharing.

Very nice watercolor painting of a blue jay. I like the color of the trees and the rich blue on the bird. The blue background compliments the bird color. Thank you for sharing.

I like this piece. The detail of the bird and branch are in contrast to the abstract like flowers in the background.
Good color, good balance.
Well done.

Hey Linda.
I love the colors in this. Very light and whimsical. It feels like spring or a nice summer day.
I can see you are struggling a bit with the bird. I think you need to loosen up a bit here. Maybe do a quick under wash and the layer in the detail bit by bit by painting into wet.

He has pretty good tips and techniques.
For me, water color became easier when I stopped trying to make it act like pen and ink (I used to do a lot of pen and ink).
Watercolor is a fluid medium that needs to flow.
Just breath and let go!
Keep at it!!

Thanks. I think that has been my struggle too. I tend to want to use the brush as a pen and do not get the results I want. I am practicing wash exercises before I start my next piece.

Love this one. The color of the bird is stunning against the pink muted flower tree. He is perfectly positioned on the branch with his forward stare. The flowering tree is well painted along with the texture in the bird's feathers.

I love watercolours and the effect they have. Have you tried really wetting the paper and dropping bits of colour on to it, the paint does it's own thing and if you add little colours on top while still wet you get this wonderful blended technique. This is very pretty, I like the delicate background you have and the bird is a lovely focal point. Happy painting :)

I've never seen one. Only thing I know about Mimosa is champagne mixed w/ orange juice LOL Yummy!

Lol. The flowers are very spiky and delicate even more so than a bottlebrush. They are cold tolerant and attract butterflies and hummingbirds.
