At first glance, I thought this was a photograph! What I really love even more than the beautiful butterfly is the background. My daughter does digital art and is always talking about backgrounds. I will have to show this to her! Awesome work!

really loving this picture. it looks like a real image but in a mystical setting. you make these digital art productions but they can look even more authentic than an actual photo. the lines in the wings are delightful.

What caught my attention straight away was the textures of the background. First of all the colors are truly lovely, but I also like how you textured with feather like brush strokes. It almost looks frosted glass at the top. A perfect background for the lovely Monarch butterfly. Also the purple flower fits the rest of the color pallet.
The butterfly is done paying a very good attention to even the smallest details, and high lights are used well. The only thing I probably would change is the colors you used on the butterfly, because I think a Monarch is more yellow/orange. But I do know that FAR don't always show the colors very good.
The format and framing is perfect, and the flower and butterfly have got a fine placement on the canvas. I think this is a beautiful and well done digital painting Cleo.

The Monarchs congregate in Mexico by the tens of thousands in one particular area. I hope to get a visit to that area during my next trip to Mexico. Should make for some interesting photo opportunities.

I was there, many years ago. To see those Monarch hanging everywhere like clusters of blossoms is overwhelming. :o)
