A beautiful rose. I like the subtle tones of the soft background that contrast so nicely with the pink of the rose. Great texture in the petals and excellent colors. Best of luck in the contest.

Wow, 10 years?! I love roses, but they are finicky. Like its colors, very soft appearance. Good full complete flower. Nice focus and closeup. Nice light green background to mix it up a bit. The touches of pink are pretty on this peach bloom. Take care.

    Knew you would like this one swimmer.....close to your favorite color. Yup, this little shrub comes back every year full of the most exquisite blooms. I love it and am so pleased you've liked it enough as well to share a gold star with. Thank you so much. You're a peach swimmer! lol

Deb, this could not be any better. Shot at the perfect bloom moment with the loveliest petal folds and nuances of color. Perfect angle and perfect dark background. Perfect lighting. All make it a superb contest entry. My favorite part is the subtle softness around the edges gently transitioning into exquisite detail. A masterpiece!

    As you know Ed I rarely enter contests but this guy photographed so beautifully for me I simply could not resist. Definitely a new calendar page for 2019, yes?? You are a doll for the really excellent review you've given it and, of course, the gold star you've shared as well. Thank you so much my friend. I appreciate both more than you know.

What a gorgeous Rose, Deborah, and such a hardy one from what you say. I like the angle you used for this, showing the intricate twists and curls of the lovely petals with their pinky/orange tinge. The softened background shows it off perfectly. Excellent lighting and focus. Lovely composition, set off well by the narrow frame. Good luck in the contest. Suzanne

this is obviously Worth a six*;
everything is perfect:
-the diagonal framing against a dark green bg;
-the lighting
--the pin sharp focus with amazing sharp details;
-and of course, the rose itself with a perfet shape, nice color and amazing texture;

    I dunno' what might have happened with 'em this year,Deb! Of course,I know NOTHING about Gardening and I usually just let things like the roses take care of themselves but this year- nothin' turned up! ( Could it have been the effect of a Black Magic hex? An ominous 'sign'? Time will tell,I guess! : ) )

    uh-oh Sean. Maybe you did something to tick off the garden spirits.....

    Prob'ly all those old 'Automotive Chemicals' getting poured into the ground over the decades got them cranky! : )

    wouldn't be surprised Sean. I poured some hornet stuff down into a nest and I swear I could smell it all summer whenever I was kneeling down weeding....even a couple of beds away from where I'd used it.

    And several defunct and 'cleared out' junkyards around here ( including one that was established back in the early 1930s! ) are now officially listed as 'Hazardous Waste Contaminated Areas' that a person can't even set foot in! ( 'Brown Fields' is what is what the NYS environmental protection people call 'em! )

    Oh good LORD!! Well I know I never used the stuff again.....just don't weed a particular bed for the entire season if they take up residence near it.

    Let's see what happens next year,Deb! : )
