Superbly timed still motion capture freezing the image between time & space...
The water splash lend an even dynamic effect together with the soft ripples.
Amusing story telling...
Sharply focused.
Impressive framing.

Thanks for sharing...

Great capture, Grace, showing the cheeky Pelican pinching the fish from the hardworking Cormorants - yes, you'd think the Cormorants would try to keep their distance. Love the pose you caught. Excellent lighting and focus showing a lovely crisp image. Very nice composition. Suzanne

Grace, superb stop action and what a great scene. Something very different for FAR. I've not seen this type of capture before.

Perhaps this is a game they have developed over the years to help them get away from actual hunters.

Whatever it is, it is phenomenal.

How interesting to have been able to see that. Those lazy pelicans will obviously get their fish anywhere...perhaps they have taken lessons from the sea gulls.

I enjoyed reading you artists notes and the storytelling with your image. Good camera skills and nice stop action. Your timing is perfect on this shot.....I love the Pelican in mid-air with it's wing spread. Nice movement in the water and beautiful reflection. Your lighting, focus, details are all good. Outstanding work and thanks for sharing!

What a Great action shot Grace. This is so well done as you captured the natural behaviors of wildlife in action. Sharp focus, good colors and just a great scene. I wish I had a six to give this one. it is that and more. very well done Grace ~ Steve

Nature is fascinating to say the least. This photo is proof. If it were not for the explanation, this picture would be very difficult to review. The composition of the photo shows exactly what is going on between the different bird species. It is a good catch and an interesting look at bird behavior.

Wow! This is completely awesome! Perfect stop of the action, great storytelling image! I love that you got the cormorant with the fish and the pelican coming toward the fish! Nice splash to show the motion on the water, partial reflection ! This is well focused, clear to view, well exposed, colors and tones are natural! I love this !

Quite a dramatic nature shot posted here! Looks like a fundamental nature action is about to take place!! Your fine composition does a good job of capturing an essential moment of the action. Exposure and sharpness are good. Nicely taken!

Hi Grace!
I think we're seeing an example of Evolution in action here,my friend! The Pelican is taking advantage of the Cormorant's obvious reluctance to modify it's instinctively developed hunting pattern!
Where a continuance of this behavior might lead in a few thousand Pelican/Cormorant generations presents some fascinating possibilities to think about! ( If you're the type of person who thinks about such things anyway! : ) )
Regardless of that it's a good looking picture with a pleasantly amusing tone hat I'm enjoying a lot!
A really 'Good Show',my friend!
