I'm not a big fan of Watermelon and I gave up on playing around with those Watercolor Pencils several years ago but I'm really enjoying your fine looking creation here!
It's very enjoyable,my friend!

This is really good. Watercolor, I am told, is difficult to work with. You are on the right track with learning this medium.

The color of the melon is accurate and real from fruit to rind.

The placement and the geometry of the scene is correct and pleasing to the eye of the viewer.

This piece is in high definition which makes it very attractive and easy to look at. This is a piece that I would be proud to hang on my walls ... B-)) Bob

Wow, what great comments from you Bob. Wall hangers are rare in my portfolio, so I am glad you like this on with your comments. Great and encouraging.

Looks as if you have this technique mastered. The melon slices look realistic in shape and color I like especial how the color fades from the center of the slice from almost white to red. You have paid good attention to detail like the texture of the melon flesh and the embedded seeds. The painting is well compost, balanced and framed. I appreciate your comments about the technique you used to create the painting.

Thanks cleo, I find your comments very encouraging. I like the technique but feel I have along way to go. But then the journey is often more exhilarating than the destination! Thanks much for taking the time to comment.

You have designed and created a luscious looking pair of watermelon slices.
I want to reach in and grab some of it.
Great technique. Very real like.
I agree. There is nothing like a good sweet watermelon in the summer. Refreshing and juicy.
Your have created a beautiful art work here using pastels.
Very very well done!

Impressive work here Allan.
I find the textures on the background and the rinds of the slices to be detailed/crisp adding to the realism of your water color pencil techs.
Fine work with great soft colors.
Beautiful work that either way you slice it...Screams SUMMERTIME!
=)

Thanks so much for the great review, I appreciate your comments. It seems much easier to add detail to a watercolor painting using colored pencils, the point can be a sharp as you want. Watermelon just evokes summer!

Well it's 11 pm right now and I will be heading to the grocery store in the morning to get a watermelon ! Your two slices of refreshing watermelon go hand in hand with a summer day! Perfect colors and tones, perfect texture and you did fantastic in placing the seeds is such a realistic way! The rind is well created too! I like ve that you placed these on a wooden table, in slices , ready to enjoy! Very well rendered and a pleasure to view! Best to you in the contest!

Thanks Pat for the great review. LOL, did you get the watermelon this morning??? :). The power of suggestion and marketing I guess. This was a fun one to make as the subject was so appealing to me. Thanks again!

Yes, I agree...watermelon and summer go hand in hand. I like that you have two juicy slices...one for you and one for me. You have captured the grainy texture of the fruit and the way the seeds are embedded in the pulp. Your rind is spot on and placing your slices atop a well rendered picnic table was perfect!

You don't, until I read your narrative I never thought about it. I don't want watermelon in the winter. But come late June through summer there is always some in my refrigerator. Just pull out the Tupperware, take the lid off and start chewing. Just something about cold watermelon on a hot day. Your image is absolutely fantastic. I enjoy looking at it and now I want watermelon.

Thanks for your comments and glad you liked the painting. I am surely a novice but enjoy the process.
