light, delicate. I saw something funny on tv yesterday. By the Arctic - these birds, small, but with sharp beams, left their fluffy balls of fur to fend for themselves whilst parents went food hunting. A little one was spotted by a bear, it came after it, it started crying, both birds and other birds came to defend it, and kept piercing their sharp beaks into the bears nose. It was deliberate! They drew blood and soon the Polar bear ran off. The little fluffy ball ran quickly for cover under its mum to hide as she sat for it.

What a spectacular painting of seagulls in their soaring element that you have brilliantly created. Your artwork pleasantly reminds me of one of my favorite films about seagulls- Jonathan Livingston Seagull(1973). The beautiful music was by Neil Diamond. Please google this film if you are not familiar about it.

I am familiar. I taught the book to my ninth grade honors students.

You have done such a nice job using many tones of white and showing such much detail. I like how you created three different phases of flight. Your clouds look nice too and your shading in the blue areas is nicely done.

Good job of white on white! The clouds strike me as softer and more realistic than the birds. A minute touch of wash on the darker feathering and lines of the feet would make the style of the very nice composition more dreamy and consistent...

An eye catching piece with nice rendering of the gulls. I like the background sky but might consider eliminating the third bird in the upper right. It would have been easy to clone out the name once the painting was scanned and that would have improved the impact. Best wishes in the contest.

Loved the softness of this work...your line work brings the birds and their flight out of the paper. Just my personal feel.a little more colour in the clouds could have made the birds come out a wee bit more.Looking forward to seeing more of your work

This lovely image almost has the feeling of a pen and ink drawing. It is well done using the watercolor. There is a very natural feel to this work with a sense of soaring and flight. The sky background is soft and subdued but works very well. Your use of the medium is very strong. Well done and good luck in the contest.

I love the rendering of the birds and their expression as they almost collide in flight. I love blue skies and fluffy clouds, perhaps a little more of that but not so much as to detract from the birds.
