The colors in this are wonderful. The blue background enhances the greens and pink in the main subject. The shading gives the work depth. It's different but neat.

Oh yes Linda, I am familiar with the Green Man. I have often seen his image carved on decorative logs. They even have his image that is in several parts that can be nailed to living trees. I love the attempt here. I am familiar with the Green Man myth. I love how you got that organic look and it does look like leaves. I believe if you went back with some colored pencils and defined the leaves more it would add to the rendering. At this point it looks like a good start but still incomplete I also love his expression.

this painting is well deserving of six stars, and i especially love it, being a Pagan. The leaves around his face and the expressive eyes makes for a great painting and this is a really interesting deviation from the other paintings i've seen from you. this is a GREAT contest entry
