I usually don't comment paintings and drawing not because I don't like, rather because I feel I'm not competent; I like the composition and the colors,

Thank you so much for your kind review! I got low stars especially when I first joined FAR by some reviewers saying it is too busy, and today somebody said it was too busy for two dimensional -- what? This culture had very "busy" gardens, lol.. I wonder sometimes if it is just as well that I never went to art school. I'd get frustrated... Thanks for your appreciation of the style and content. Have a great day!

Simple, delicate and beautiful - AND immensely intricate; this must have taken time and patience to complete. I love the blend of colours - the upper fringe tapestry being reflected in the shawl and bottom rt. flowers. The emperors tapestry contrasts beautifully - a simple design set against the intricate background.

Hi Daphne just to say that while your stallion is definitely not too busy this one is a tapestry and therefore demands intricacy in my opinion - all reviews are subjective of course - but I will say this while I have promoted reviewers who have given me a lower rating it would only be because their review was helpful and correct. I was able to use the comments to improve on my original posting. Artist need to be true to themselves and their own style, and I think that reviewers who think from their own blinkered view are being 2 dimensional because they dob't see beyond what their traditionalist outlook might be. I think your work is lovely.

Very nice. Maybe a little busy, but not enough for me to mark it down. I wish I understood digital art. The colors work together well. The color yellow seems to be the major color. I like it.

Thank you so much. I know I have had this kind of floral busy tropical art marked down, but wonder why as the environment in the tropics can be like that, and more so.... Some of the gardens and flower covered roofs in the oasis settlements near where I grew up until age eight used to remind me of natural colored lace..

Perhaps because when you were looking at them, they were in 3D? I grew up during the time when you were to never wear stripes and flowers. You wore white shoes until Labor Day, then you changed to black shoes. Maybe it is ingrained in us.

A very colorful artwork Daphne showing the woman at work completing her tapestry. A tapestry within tapestry. Good choice of colors and artistically put together.

The artwork is convincing. It looks like an waving itself. The woman has black hair and small nose of the Toltec's and wears a woven shawl with an ancient pattern, still used today. Her weaving shows Quetzalcoatl in its human form with his royal headdress and the blue robe of a deity of the Fifth Sun. The artwork has pleasant, harmonic colors and is excellent framed.

Thank you, you sound like you know a lot. The short story I created this for almost got sold to Golden Books (Disney) in 1998, but my New York agent listed in Jeff Herman's Literary Guide went manic for some reason, and was accused of international mail fraud. This work was impounded by the courts and I never got the original back. I tried but it never was released to me, so I finally renamed it, slightly rewrote it and included fewer illustrations so it would be cheaper to print. As you seem to know a lot about the Ancient Messoamerican culture, you might be interested to read it. It is short. If you like. Email me at daphneoberon@gmail.com and I'll email you the manuscript to see what you think. It is tricky trying to base a story on another countries folklore/mythology but I grew up in Mexico even though born in the US to a British Father, so what my right is to base a story on the complex Mesoamerican mythology is a bit muddled; I also put together a video of this with some help from Mr. Jones on artistic effects, but have not found anyone to do the voice-over. Brenda from FAR wanted to and thought she could, but other projects keep derailing her efforts.... again, my email, daphneoberon@gmail.com

This definitely reminds me when I use to read books as a child! It looks like it would belong as an illustration of a cover. Gives the viewer a story and very colorful and creative! I love all the flowers coming us and around like a frame! Very nice!

I like the bright colors that you have presented here. The details are also fantastic along with interesting patterns from the flowers, the picture, and the blanket on the lady. You did a great job. Thank you for sharing this creative piece with us. :)
