strong colours for a strong scene. The Greens offset the red and the yellow in the sky sets off the blue mountains, with a hint of greys and browns to lead into a very strong scene.

Thank you for your five star vote and your comments. I appreciate both. I set myself multiple compositional problems involving horizontal shapes (the sky), vertical movements (the mountains), and shape overlays to create the sense of distance. I wanted this one as powerful as an abstract realistic painting as I could. It is 24 by 36 inches and simply dominates a room. Thank you for seeing the isolated color pattern.

yes the movement was also clearly defined, but I love colour which is what struck me first..

This is a very dramatic piece! Great depth, vivid colors, bloody sky! I enjoy the bright colors! Extremely cool contrast! Excellent notes, as always. Thanks for sharing, Carl!

Thank you Lucas for taking the time to look at my work. It is pleasing to me that you like this one. At the time it was a very challenging concept for me to execute.

Nice colorful landscape creation. The details is great. The depth is great. The shading is great. The blend of colors is awesome. The creation is balance and eye appealing to the viewer. Good eye and great job overall

If I could walk into a scene like this in the early morning, it would make my day fantastic! I get a sense of being up in our Talkeetna Mountains and watching a fantastic sunrise, the red sky is breathtaking! I love the light coming up from the left, it still hasn't come over the mountain tops, it sends up the bright yellow and the clouds in the sky are red! I like the way the light touches the mountains from the left and moves across to the right, allowing us to see the snow that covers the top and as it moves to the right there is less snow and more green , I can see the shape and the depth of the mountain surface, the small shrubs that are consistent with foliage at this high elevation, the ground in the earthy tones has some loose rocks typical of what it's actually like to be in this type of a location. The clouds above show the texture and thickness coming down from the dark part of the sky and actually sit down on the mountain tops. This is very well thought out and beautifully rendered, if I were fortunate enough to find myself in this beautiful scene, this is exactly the way I would photograph it! For me, I would chose a frame that was simple in its design, in a wood tone, nothing that would compete with the beauty in this scene! This is well presented and a good entry for this contest! Best of luck to you! I showed this to my husband and he absolutely loved it too!

This is very grand in scope! I love the colors of the sky and the varying of hues therein. The mountain range is immense and brightens closer to the viewer. I would like more separation from the brush in the foreground. Beautiful painting and with a pallet knife is not easy!

The perspective in this is extraordinary as well as the colors and feel. Having grown up in a large part surrounded by isolated deserts of 1960s Baja, many of which gave one respect for distance, sunrises and sunsets, this really speaks to me! Daphne Oberon
