pity the animal is so dark and without details, it takes from the initial impact

I took the shot from a distance against the light. No time to wait for the right angle!:) These rare breed are quick on their feet. Thanks so very much for your time and the fine review! Much appreciated!

Aptly captured for the contest theme...
Excellent choice of subject.
Sharply focused.
Fine features & textures.
Painterly feel!
Low vantage point greatly enhances the visual language & power dynamics of this image.
Good perspective & long depth of field...
Best of luck in the contest!
Thanks for sharing...

I really appreciate the opportunity to view this unusual animal, it's one that I am not familiar with. It appears that you shot from quite a distance away, also that you shot into your light source, it is difficult to see the details and the image pixelates when I enlarge, I appreciate your effort, keep shooting!

Only thing that has me wondering is does he taste like deer? Just curious. The clarity is good. The angle of the shot of this critter is good. The capture of the light is good. The image is balance and eye interesting to the viewer. Good eye and good job overall

A beautiful beast and a great shot of him. I like the way he is isolated against the sky; a tricky composition to meter and a great job. Best of luck in the contest.

A cyber Six star rating for this magnificent Sambar stag staring down upon you his corkscrew Anthers against the blue sky with thin high flying clouds above him. Beautiful composition framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.
Good luck in the contest.
