Congratulations on your third place finish! This photo could have placed first in my opinion---a 3-way tie as all winning photos were equally outstanding. The colors are simply gorgeous and you gave the viewer a grand vista in which to contemplate all the various shapes and textures.

Each day is God's masterpiece;
Every sunset His signature!

I'll give you a blue ribbon being the 15th reviewer!

Magnificent twilight's last gleaming on that horizon!
Fantabulous glorious golden glow before night fall...
Diminishing perspective. Vanishing viewpoint.
Visually balanced composition.

Best of luck in the contest!
Thanks for sharing...

Jill,
A beautiful picture of the sunrise at Dolly Sods Wilderness, the rising sun glimpsed between the clouds floating over head driven by the celestial winds. The sky behind the clouds colouring the sky gold that glows through them. The soft light allowing us to glimpse the rocky landscape in the foreground. Artistic composition framing and lighting taken with superb camera techniques and sharp focus.

That's a great looking picture,my friend!
Interesting and enjoyable!
The terrain reminds me of certain areas here in the Adirondack Mountains of northern New York state! : )

Cool! ( We're very close to Canada up here in the Adirondacks! )

nice angle of shot and depth of filed, but in order to really enjoy the photo it should be less dark, like this most of the details are off and unseen

good luck with the contest and thanks for sharing

Thank You for the great feedback and comments! I appreciate you reviewing and giving me pointers and things to take into account when preparing to post. I seem to have this issue quite often, it looks bright on my screen and when I post, shows darker. I haven?t quite figured out how to correct. I will certainly look into it. :)

I really like the dark clouds with the sunrise peeking through them. Great color and dof, with the foreground silhouetted. Nice composition and color balance.

The sky is what did it for me!
This has so many elements for a truly dramatic photograph. The colors and depth in this are gorgeous and have so much to offer the viewer to enjoy. I loved seeing the subtle highlighted detail in the foreground, and a view that seems to go on to infinity. Very emotional capture with outstanding beauty and a wonderful flare for the dramatic! Love it! Best wishes in the competition!

I am a big fan of sunset scenes and this one has all the elements that really make for a dynamic image. Great use of the rule of thirds. The foreground is dark and detailed which serves as a perfect framing element. This accents the beautiful sun lit clouds which are rich in colors and sharply focused in the middle third of the scene. The upper third shows the dynamic clouds with a mixture of blues and reflected sunlight which gives such a nice dramatic effect. Excellent work here Jill and a super entry for the contest. I hope it will do very well. Best of fortune in the voting Jill ~ Steve
