This is indeed a different and original butterfly photo Aimee, and it is really a great idea to place glasses like this around to attract the butterflies to them. You have also a nicely softened background, for the glass and butterfly to stand out in an excellent way.
Your photo is also very sharp showing such clear and well defined details both in the butterfly and the glass, and the exposure is perfect.
I also like the way you have cropped the photo, and the fine placement of the glass and butterfly within the frame. I think this is a truly lovely and well taken photo with an excellent DOF, and I wish you luck with the contest.

Thanks very much for taking the time to review. I would guess that the cocktail is mostly sugar water since that is what is used in butterfly and hummingbird feeders. Butterflies love old, rotting fruit and believe it or not, dog poop. I have first hand experience with that last one.....LOL

This is awesome! I love your title too! A blue cocktail in the long stemmed glass, the beautiful butterfly on the right side of the glass enjoying this cocktail, well focused, the image is clear, nice detail and your exposure allows the natural cream tones with brown detail in the wings. Very well composed and presented!

Thanks so much Pat! I really enjoyed the day there and I'm sure these little props were set up deliberately so people could take pictures that were sure to come out reasonably sharp.
