Very nice shot of these pelicans at rest. Sharp focus provides full details. Well controlled light and shadow. Good color throughout. Not a great fan of the black background, but it is effective in making the birds standout. Well done.

That's a fine looking Portrait Photo of this pair of large and interesting Marine birds!
I notice they've both got the 'mating season bump' on the top of their large beaks!

I love these birds and I LOVE this shot, Eileen. Great job capturing both eyes in focus. The lighting is really lovely. One in shade, one with sun on its back. The tightly cropped composition is just so nice. Really nice job capturing the textures so well. The dark background really helps them to pop. REALLY lovely work. Thanks for sharing.

Your photo is of course also sharp, and it is clear and well defined details to be seen in both birds. The white balance and exposure is perfect.
The format you have cropped the photo into works really well, and the two of them are well placed within the frame. A truly lovely and well taken photo and with a very good DOF.

The bumps on the bills tell me it's breeding time.
Both males and females get the bumps only during breeding.
