Sharp, crisp image of what appears to be a short-eared owl. The subject matter includes a good range of grey tones from black to white. Ne/she presents an interesting expression to the camera..

You have indeed pictured this majestic bird well, and I think the photo looks great in black and white. Especially the big shiny eyes are well captured, and also textures of the feathers are brought out well. The background is nicely softened for the Owl to stand out in an excellent way.

Your photo is very sharp and it is such clear and well defined details to be seen both in the feathers and the face, and the exposure is spot on. Very good distinctions between light and dark.

The cropping is perfect and the Owl has got a very good placement within the frame. Indeed a great looking and well taken photo with an excellent DOF. I wish you luck with the contest.

Would have given you 6 stars for this photo, but I am afraid I have run out.

Hi Annie, and thanks much for the super comments on this image. Not everyone likes b/w but I find it a good break from color photos from time to time. You must be back from travelling.

You are more than welcome Allan. Yes, I am back from Greece, but it was difficult to go back to normal life, so it took me some time to get started here on FAR.

Amazing shot! Black and white works really well on this one. Sharp focus, nicely cropped and adjusted. Soft background helps to focus on the awl. Excellent notes! Pleasure to review!

You not only learned about birds of prey in your class, you photographed one in a first class manner! The range of black-to-white tones is very effective, and his eyes, are of course, the centerpiece of this fine photo.
