Wow! What a great capture of this lightening bolt. Your hard work and persistence really paid off. With the area around the lightening bolt being So Dramatic, I am thinking that cropping in from all sides would greatly Enhance the Wow effect upon first view. That area deserves to be highlighted in the scene. Just a thought. Great capture and a wonderful contest entry. Best of fortune in the voting ~ Steve

Thank You so much for the wonderful comments and excellent advice! I had originally cropped it but wasn?t sure how it might be like cropped further, but I?ve received several great reviews and suggestions for a tighter crop. Thanks again for looking, giving great advice and taking the time to look and write back, so appreciated. :). Jill

You have accomplished something I've tried to do for years! I find thunder storms to be a two edged sword. They're beautiful to watch and scare the heck out of me at the same time.

The stormy sky and silhouetted foreground really add to the emotions I feel when I view this. Good luck in the contest.

Thank You So Very Much!!! Like you I have tried for many years and finally blessed to of captured one! I got one a few years ago in Florida but nothing near like this one! I've always loved thunderstorms, something about them are so mesmerizing. Although the can be a bit scary at times. Thank you for taking the time to look and write a review, I appreciate it very much! :0 Jill

I would say your patience paid off. I believe I would have done the same thing. There is something a little crazy about going out in bad weather to get a good shot. I love a good storm. I always wondered how someone was able to get a shot like this because it happens so quickly. As I read your explanation I understood. The beautiful blue against the black trees and hill really is stunning. The lightening strike is very defined, like God had a special place for that light to go. Thank you for sharing.

Thank You So Very Much for such a Wonderful review!!! I'm so glad my explanation helped you understand how the shot was taken. So many people use the lightening triggers to capture amazing shots. I do not have that device, so I have to rely on how to do it like we did durning film days lol. I agree, I believe God had a special purpose for this, as I was praying, saying PLEASE just one good shot and I'll quit on that for the night... and then there it was! Also Thank you for taking the time to look and write a review, I appreciate it very much!!! :) Jill

I've never heard of a lightning trigger. God does answer prayers.

Yes he does!!! lightening triggers can be quite expensive like $300+ for good ones... but I'd rather be able to wait and get it on my own, than a machine take it... lol

Nice shot capturing the crashing shot of lightning. The dark surrounds really make the single bolt stand out . Could possibly lighten just a little so the the silhouettes are a bit more visible. Well done.

Very nice job getting such a sharp capture of lightning! The upper strikes have an attractive pronged shape that stands out well above the clouds. I really like how the clouds look surrounding the lightning and the deep color of the blue in the sky too.

This photo is extraordinary. The lighting is prefect captured. The far away view across the silhouette lends depth to the photo. The blue tint of the lighted clouds in the dark surroundings intensifies the emotional impact. I think it is prefect for the night-time contest.

Great capture of this lightning strike! I can see the lightning going all the way down from the clouds to the top of the tree. I like the beautiful blue colors in the clouds too!

What a great captured shot. I love thunder storms and I find myself missing the lighting bolt with my handy i phone every time. LOL
This is a perfect night time shot for the upcoming contest.
The silhouetted trees are pronounced and show perfectly against the lightning lite sky.
I wish you the best of luck in the contest!
