How very strange! My guess is that a fire cleared the area and now it is coming back. Really beautiful! Almost looks like a double exposure. An amazing capture.

This shot does have an awesome abstract appeal. The shapes of the branches are very interesting and look especially nice against the beautiful Autumn colors. It's like a sea of leaves below the trees.

I like the contrast in this photo. The nakedness of the branches with the beautiful orange leafs on the ground that was once their beauty. The perspective is good as well. I would have liked the leafs in front to be more focused, but that is a matter of preference from my standpoint. Good framing as well.

I think it is amazing how the nature is blending colors together in contrast. The trees remind me a pattern of the decorative brush painting, and transparent lace. Great catch, thanks for sharing

This is a photograph? It is beautiful. The composition of white grey tangled lines hovering over random splotches of orange and yellow just draws the viewer into the scene. Most excellent. Reasons for my six star vote.

Leafless trunks with gnarled branches and twigs look like sickly souls secretly searching for serenity...
Diminishing perspective lends a visual journey with frame filled up with this bare stems.
Orange foliage creates a warm contrast in vanishing viewpoint.
As per observation since 2013, usually winners in this comp have more colors presented in visual harmony...
But who knows the voters' have changed this year...

A beautiful picture of this forest of trees their bare branches making an interesting tangle over the bushes below dressed up in their russet & gold foliage. Beautiful composition framing and lighting taken with superb camera techniques and sharp focus.
