Even if it is impossible the judge the size of the bird from this photo, it sort of looks small and it is also incredibly cute. Looking almost shy in this photo, and posing for you in such a lovely way. The background is perfectly blurred for the bird to stand out in the most excellent way.
Your photo is sharp and it is clear and well defined details to be seen both in the feathers, the head and the feet. The exposure is perfect.
The format you have cropped the photo into works so well, and the bird has got a very good placement off to the right. Indeed a lovely and well taken photo Allan, and with an excellent DOF. I wish you luck with the contest.

Thanks so much for the great review. This falcon is really small, about the size of a cockatoo parrot. They are dealy on mice and insects. Thanks for stopping by.

Very well photographed ! This is a beautiful bird, I have always liked the eyes of the kestrel , I like it's pose on the wood post , slightly turned , nice detail is easily seen in the feathers , face and beak, beautiful eye! This is well focused, the image is clear to view, exposure is spot on, colors and tones are natural, background is clear and pushes your subject forward offering a clear undistracted view!
