Nice is the dark background and the way it makes this candle glow in the dark and nice the way the candles flickers. A beautiful color pallet with good blending and shading of colors. This is a lovely entry into a contest like this, and I especially like the simplicity of the image and the limited color pallet. The textured brown background offers a very nice contrast to the red candle, and I like the way the flame is placed off to the right.
Your use of high lights are excellent, and makes the candle truly shine. I also like boldness of the brush strokes in this painting.
The format and the framing is perfect and the candle is well placed on the canvas. I think this is a truly lovely and well done digital painting, and I wish you luck with the contest.

This is lovely! I love the way you painted the flame! The brush strokes on the candle holder are beautiful too. The dark background shows the candle shining a wonderful ight in the darkness.

I wish I could do what you have done here. The candle is gorgeous. The difference in the shades of the red color give the candle depth. I like the flame not quite in the middle and not straight up and down, like wind has been blowing through. I also like the light seen cast outside in the background. Excellent work.

I am far, far away from being an intelligent art critic. But nevertheless, I think this a beautiful expression of a candle.
Just the simplicity, the color and the tone of the whole image is impressive. Looks like fine art to me.

This is so pretty! The red candle holder with a red candle inside , its flame softly flickering . The black background was the perfect choice to showcase the lovely candle. This is so very well created with nice detail in the candle holder, the tonal variations are shown in the swirly pattern, the candle holder shows a bit of melted wax on the rim.
