A beautiful picture of this Tropical bird with it's extremely long tail feathers/plumes the bird perched on a beach covered in golden blooms with two visiting blue butterflies below the sun surrounded by a halo of golden rays how you created it digitally is to me a mystery but the results are beautiful.

Thank you very much for your kind review! Digitally, I ignore the professional layers method, and after drawing the different parts of an object, group them together and move them around until I like the placement. To create something like the tail, I do a sloppy drawing at first, then adjust anchor points until the object takes on the shape I like. This is NOT the advanced way to use Adobe Illustrator! It is kind of like sewing by hand with a needle and thread rather than using a sewing machine. What I do like about this method is it seems to make vector drawing look less like the image was created by a machine, because really, it wasn't. I just drew it in by hand, using the tools. An attractive design that would be great on serving platter. I can't imagine eating off one though. The colors are nice and the pattern is beautiful.

OHH! This composition is so balanced and peaceful! And I recognized your style of perfection, Daphne!!! Nice!!! I love your choice of colors. The Tail goes on the circle, same as contour of the plate. Excellent and perfect - reasons for the highest 6 stars. Good luck in the contest!!!

Wonderful initial impression: this is a beautiful piece, it's beautifully understated , I love the aqua blue background with the golden yellow border , the yellow sun in bottom center with its rays reaching up and away , the stunning bird with the long tail is perched above the sun on the branch of a flowering tree, the bird with its yellow head pale green wings and his bright orange breast looks back as if he is admiring his long green tail, I like the two blue butterflies that are placed near the yellow flowers and the smaller bird that flys below. This is very well created and beautifully arranged. Well presented! Best wishes to you in the contest!

Thank you so much Pat! It will be interesting to see how it fares in the contest! I created some other illustrated dinnerware with the Quetzal design; not sure what its destiny is! Thanks so much for your great review! Daphne Oberon PS did you find the memoir too dark and complicated? I should have another better edited version before the end of the year...

This is simply beautiful!

Love the colors and the composition of how you placed the bird on the plate to give the impression of its long tail.

The bluer center really helps to enhance the flowers, butterfly, and other bird. Good luck in the contest.
