A simple yet excellent captured shot.
Isn't it great to actually stop and enjoy, I mean really enjoy life's simplistic pleasures?
This is well captured with the texture in the water and throughout the photo.
Well focused and presented.
A pleasure to view!

A wonderful shot of this leaf floating in the water, like the colors of the leaf , nice refection of sunlight in the water, helps create depth in this image,

Surely there must be more interesting subjects to photograph than this single autumn leaf, over there in Montana? I am not saying though that
this is a bad photo. Just seems very ordinary.

Ruth,
A beautiful picture of this green & gold Aspen leaf caught up on a rock in the river bed with the water flowing over the rocks & the sunlight dancing on it's surface. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.

Good eye for seeing this one Ruth Ann. The water takes on an eye catching abstract look as it flows over the rock. The dappling colors make for an artistic look and feel. The leaf as the center of focus adds a realistic element to the scene. Since this is a contest entry I will point out that there is one portion of the leaf that is too bright and blown out. It has lost all the colors which takes away from this great scene. I would consider doing some work on the leaf itself to bring out a bit of drama (contrast, sharpen, saturate, etc.) In fact since the water is such a cool looking abstract, and that is the focus of the contest, you might consider giving the leaf itself an abstract look also. Just a couple of thoughts. Overall a great image and I wish you all the best in the contest Ruth Ann ~ Steve

Thank you, Steve...I have fought with that one spot and was able to tone it down a bit, but you're right it still has that blown out look.

Yeah, but it happens to be a very nice and well done cliche, Ruth. The way it stands out against the darker background makes for an interesting effect.
My opinion is that it is very well done.

I really like the simplicity of this scene, it's a scene that many people would not give a second thought to, however it's a beautiful scene, this single leaf has fallen and now come to rest on this rock in the stream, it draws the eye immediately because of its bright yellow and still the little bit of its green . I like the placement of the leaf in the frame, the clear water allowing a view of the rock under the surface and I like the way the water catches the light. This is of course , well focused, the image is clear to view, exposure is well handled, the colors and tones appear natural. I like this water in nature shot! Best wishes to you in the contest!

This is what I do. I pre register for all the major contests and start gathering images. I will not post my entry until the week that it is due. This contest is not until sometime in the spring. This is a very nice shot but I'm pretty sure you will come across something in the next 5 months that you like better.
