Wow! What a lovely image Steve. I love the framing of the composition with the fog in the upper half of the image. The blue sky really enhances the orange tones of the land. Overall, great composition and framing along with good lighting and details.

I gave this a Bonus rating not because its your special day but its a rare capture with a fantabulous smoky effect,
The foreground color & texture
is very impressive.
The backdrop looks like steel shavings magnetize by a natural force...

Great Thirds!
Diminishing perspective. Vanishing viewpoint lends greater depth.

Good perspective & long depth of field...
Thanks for sharing...

Happy Birthday, Steve!

What a site that must have been in person.

wow, look at all that steam rising up. I'm hearing stories that something may blow there soon... let's hope not!

Wonderful colors and a great visual for sure!

Thank you so much Eileen for your review and comments. Yes Yellowstone sits on a huge Caldera (center of a volcano) and they say that one day it Will Blow. It will be catastrophic. It won't happen for another hundred thousand years but I am going to take all the pictures I can so that folks a hundred thousand years from now will know what it looked like before the Big Blast. Thanks again Eileen ~ Steve

The hot spring is excellently captured. The dark hill in the background and the blue sky emphasize the white steam below it and the colorful deposits in the foreground. The different colors and shapes of the run offs are impressive. The line of hot water steams is nicely placed of center in the upper third. The landscape is well composed and framed. The composition is balanced.

This is a great picture!
The color of the ground highlights the steam coming up making it look a little sinister but yet beautiful.
It is very enjoyable piece to look at.
Good luck!

Very nice photo, Steve, and great information as well. Can we assume the term "cooler water" is relative?
You have captured this very well - the colors of the water and surrounding area and the dramatic effect of the steam.

Hey thanks a lot Robert. Yes by the time the water flows into the Firehole River it is abour 95F. So that is relatively cool. I put my hand into run off from this and other pools and it was Really hot even after flowing a few hundred feet. Thanks for your review Robert ~ SteveHey thanks a kot Nik. I always appreciate you taking the time to check out and review
