excellent story telling, is this a "real" capture or a stated photo?

the main problem I have is that the BW range tonal is not good, too black and dark making details disappear

A nice story which is a bit idealized if you ask any of the families of black suspects who get killed in this same process every year. A nice shot though with fine details and good composition.
