This is a handsome bird! I like the profile view and how well it shows off the unusual size and shape of his beak. You captured good light in the eye and the feathers colors look good. I might have cleaned up the glare on his beak and cropped some of the space from the top to bring more emphasis to the subject, but I like how your shallow depth gives the background an attractive softness.

Beautiful shot and a very regal pose indeed. It sounds like an interesting place to visit should I ever get to visit the U.K. I'm sure this will do well in the contest. Good luck!

That yellow bill really is eye catching,I don't think I would want it to grab ahold of my finger,though-lol! It is definitely a type of raptor, perhaps an eagle, and I really love all the textures and shadings in those feathers,as well as the intense look in it's eye. Really cool looking image, wish you the best in the contest! LeeAnn

What a portrait of this Magniicent bird. They always look so regal and exude power and conficence.

The focus is nicely soft giving a refreshingly different look and feel. The eye is in sharp focus with good color. The beak is sharp. There is a bit of a glare which reflecting off the beak. Great placement in the frame. Well done Nik ~ Steve

Oh my.....this is a stunning shot of this regal looking bird. Since the eye is so sharp just draws you into your photography. Your play with light and shadows is perfect as well. Your lighting is working for you along with your sharp focus, your details are incredible on the feathers and markings of this gorgeous bird. Your choice of aperture diffusing your background compliments your work. Outstanding work and thanks for sharing!

Do you know what kind of bird it is? It looks kind of like an eagle of some sort. It is a very good picture. There is good eye contact and you can see the feathers and how they seperate. Very nice and thank you for sharing it with us.

Very lovely capture. I really like how his yellow beak draws attention to him. His feathers show a lot of detail and he appears to be very alert. Well focused and lighting is excellent.
