The Idea behind the painting, being a winter scene, using a few colors with all the various elements, is a nice idea.

The color harmony is there. Bringing the colors of the cabins, that purple sparingly into the trees adds a nice color harmony to the painting.

The one area where I think it needs some improvement is in the light blue hill and the flat field area in front of it. Both areas need to have a little whiter highlight added. I say this, by the way the moon is placed in the painting, the hill at the crest would have a highlight of white there and then the same on the meadow closest to the viewer. Adding that would add more depth and perspective to the painting. It's like the hill would have cast a shadow on the field, know what I mean?

Other than those observations on how I think it would be a more dramatic painting. You have done a really good job, with overall color harmony in your painting, nicely done.

Those are my reasons for the less than perfect rating.

An excellent winterscape painting. The toal range of the minimum colours used makes this visually pleasant. Good light and shadows effects makes the painting pop. Well done!

Lewis Carroll -very nice! I admire how many tones and shades of blue that you have accomplished in this painting. I think you have done an excellent job in creating light too. I find the moonlight reflecting on the water especially attractive.

Very nice use of blues. Good use of dark colors showing depth of perspective. Highlights are well formed giving the eye focus and movement which adds interest to the piece. This storybook setting looks like a wonderful book illustration for a story. Well done my young friend.

Such a nice scene Lucas. It reminds me of growing up in the mountains of Idaho. Snow gently caressing the banks of the river and the log cabins with the smoke from the fireplaces wafting in the stillness.

Nice work with the colors. I can feel the chill all the way down here in Mexico. Great work Lucas ~ Steve

Cool image, Lucas. I like the smoke from the chimneys rising up and becoming/joining the clouds overhead and in the background.
Excellent perspective.
Imaginative and innovative image.
Well crafted artwork.

Hi Lucas! I don't know how you do it , but this is gorgeous! Very well thought out and excellently rendered! It's a cold winter night along the river, I love the blanket of snow on the ground and on the two rooftops, I love the way the river curves through this scene and is framed by the evergreen trees that are flocked in snow. The reflection on the water and the light low in the sky is so beautiful! This scene has nice depth and the details are so very impressive, the textures on the trees , the way you created the sky, it's all so very beautiful ! The only thing wrong is that I don't have a six to award your beautiful winter artwork! I wish you the best in the contest! Happy new year to you!

A beautiful scene. The light in the night sky is outstanding and I like the way it seems to blend with the chimney smoke. I like the composition and the cool color palette. Best of luck in the contest.
