Looks like cardinals can be greedy and stand their ground well. The finch didn't have a chance. Great capture action shot. Well focused and lighting is good.

Lucky for you that you had your camera, one of my favorite birds to take pictures of is the cardinal. I really like how you caught this bird in mid flight and it would have been funny if the little bird ran into the bigger one. The framing is right on the mark and I love the colors. Sorry I'm out of extra stars. What an amazing shot. Little finch seemed to hold his own till this red cardinal seems to show his stuff and makes an aggressive move forward. I havent seen many cardinals, but in appearance and attitude they remind me of a blue jay... except red. You sure have a knack for perfectly captured moments , rich with awesome detail and color. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you very much :) I think Cardinals can be just as aggressive as Jays, except they do not try to intimidate Jays or Red-bellied Woodpeckers; usually just other cardinals and smaller birds! I've notices that they don't seem to mind the Chickadees and Juncos.

Georgeous! The image is so sharp and clear and the color on the cardinal is so vibrant. Very well done. I like that the birds are focused in the foreground a Nd e background is slightly blurred.

This is an perfect action photo. It does not only shows action but a developing story as well. The Cardinal indeed seems vicious, but I am sure the little bird will steal a beak full and is gone before the big guy has time to attack.
The Cardinal is posing like a bully, but the little guy is faster and probably smarter. You have the pose of the Cardinal especially well captured. The wings show well defined detail which is emphasized by the light. The speed of the little guy nicely captured with a fine motion blow. The shallow background emphasizes the action well .

I think it is very good stop action in this photo, and I was also surprised to see how big a bird the Cardinal actually is. Still the little Finch doesn't look like it is going to give up easily. Both the birds are standing out well from the nicely softened background, and I also like the way the light is shining through the birds wings.
Your photo is sharp enough to see clear and well defined details in both birds, and the exposure is very good.
The format and framing is very good and the two birds are well placed in the upper half of the photo. Indeed a lovely and well taken photo, and with an excellent DOF.

I think it is very good stop action in this photo, and I was also surprised to see how big a bird the Cardinal actually is. Still the little Finch doesn't look like it is going to give up easily. Both the birds are standing out well from the nicely softened background, and I also like the way the light is shining through the birds wings.
