A very nice shot. I like the detail in the black feathers and the unobtrusive background. I might like a little more room in front of him though.

    Mike,
Thanks a million for your complementary review on this Rook, dodging the traffic outside the shops waiting for the school boys returning to school after lunch dropping tasty titbits such as pizza crusts etc.
I did not crop the front The Rook walked out of the frame in two other pictures & nearly did so in this one too.

I thought this was a sketch or a sketch effect added to a photo until I brought it closer. Then I could see the very fine details of the birds smooth, glossy feathers, vert nicely focused eye and the ground, which had looked sketched, I could see the detailed shades of grey. Great shot.

    Chick,
Thanks a million for your complementary review on this Rook dodging the traffic outside the shops. The road's surface there is ridged cement.

I like the mostly black and white affect but I see a bit of deep dark blue on the top of the head and the rounded part of the wing. Good detail

wow amazing bird. i presume a member of the greater crow family. the beak reminds me of those fine ravens at the tower of london. always a great joy to see your passion of birds, captured through your lense.

You have indeed pictured this bird well Susan, and you stop action was very good since it was walking. The plain background with great textures is perfect for the bird to stand out in an excellent way.

Your photo is nice and sharp showing such clear and well defined details in every part of the bird, and the exposure is very good.

The format and framing works well and the bird has got a fine placement within the frame. A lovely and well taken bird photo, and with an excellent DOF.

Cool,Susan!
I've been observing a Parliament of Rooks foraging through the semi frozen ground of a plowed up nearby corn field lately and I'm finding them to be rather interesting birds indeed!
Not as interesting as their 'cousins' the Ravens and Crows are but interesting nonetheless! : ) )
Your photo of this handsome specimen looks Great,my friend!

    Sean,
Thanks a million for your complementary review on this dancing Rook they move much faster than the Carrion , Hooded Crows & Ravens & half the time look as if they had been dragged though a hedge backwards. This Rook had three lose feathers dangling out of it's right side. I tried to capture them but the Rook had other ideas.

You captured very good detail of this bird. His characteristics look like is a member of the crow family. I like that you caught him walking and how well the pattern of his feathers stand out.

Well photographed with good focus, the image is clear, exposure is well managed , nice detail in his feathers, face and beak, good eye contact . Well composed to show this awesome bird that resembles a crow on the street where he might find some discarded food! Well presented!
