This picture is so uniquely precented. I love the rainbow colors spreading out from the sun in its linear lines. The horse has nice shadowing and it's white hair is a nice break in the colors

Sam, in the left hand list of options in blue text on your site page, activate the contacts button. This will open to a field that says buddies. Blow that is the option to mute. If my name shows up there, unmute it. If it does not show up, then it is a bug in the system. 5 members were muted all at once last fall, you were one of them. Strange! I wondered if it was due to them not understanding my picture in Anigmata, where I have a leaning cross... The whole thing is really funny, odd. Tom refuses to address the question with me too -- he has for months. I wondered a long time ago if he just wanted me to quit the site for some reason, but I payed for a year so I am hanging in. Also some bug stops me from communicating with members by personal message, so I have to do it here like I am with you. No way to change that... So what is up one wonders!? Daphne Oberon

I love the beautiful sunset colors of the sky and the purplish color of the waves. Sandy beach works well. My only suggestion is maybe some line on the beach area to create some depth.

Thank you so much!! Such as increasing the high tide line some more? Would this be what you mean by the line? It is hard to see in these tiny viewing windows, but these graphics are designed for youtube which can be a small window as well, so I guess I should saturate that area more -- the high tide line that is... I referred to the beach area the horse is on. It has a flat look and adding some lines similar to what you did in the water but in a different direction would anchor your horse more. Even if you did it just under his feet such as a couple of hoof prints. Hope this helps.

Oh thank you, I see. I wanted to use a dusting of sand but sand seems to hog too much memory -- I will do something... thanks again! Daphne

I think this is beautiful! I am glad that it has been given a six star rating since I don't have any left. Your sunset colors are perfect and I like the colors you used in the water. The way you created the rays of light from the sun is eye catching and provides a visually stimulating pattern that grabs the eyes and rather than detracting from the attention to your beautiful subject, it accentuates it, like an exclamation point at the end of a brilliantly written sentence.

I am so glad someone especially likes my sunset! I spent a lot of time on it, at one point trying to reflect the oranges on the surface of the water, but it kept turning to the color of mud, so I decided purple was the next best option -- blue from the sea and purple mixed with reddish/orange tones from the sky... Thank you so much for your expressive reviews; if you would like a copy of any one or more of these, feel free to email me at daphneoberon@gmail.com...

yes i came to presume he is protected by a guiding light. some of us are and aware that we are looked after by such a kind force. he looks back into a perfect environment. the soft sand is just heaven to ease sore hooves. the white spot on his head, i not noticed before, is another guided sight, or an animal type instinct that they have to project (to keep safe and sound), or if a hunter to catch their quarry. i think you make some obvious but also more than a few subtle, symbolic details. well another finely tuned presentation daphne.

Thank you so much Mr. Jones! Now that I think of it, I did attribute some significance to the shy and secretive Azulejo's round forehead marking. I made some reference that as he camouflaged himself within the gray-green shrubbery, from a distance his forehead marking looked like no more than one of the round "ghost lights!" Interesting observations you make sometimes when you don't actually even know the story! Such as mentioning the Golden Akhal-Tek in your post about my Arabian stallion. In the book about the Azulejo I had an educated observer compare the Azulejo's shimmering coat to the Akhal-Tek's fine coat. I wonder if this field will accept this paste from the book where the protagonist sees his Grandfather's Horses for the first time. We will see! : The sandaled footfall of Doña Blanca, Don Tomas? wife, signaled mystery and wonderment as she walked up beside him. She put a strong, weathered hand on his shoulder. ?Pobrecito, mi hijito! Cómo te amanecistes? My poor little son, how have you awakened??
?Bien, gracias, Doña, I am fine, thank you,? Donato muttered, ducking his head.
The Doña continued, ?Soon, you will meet your abuelo, Don Tomas. I see him riding down the hillside yonder with the muchachos.? She pointed toward the southern skyline, but Donato had not yet developed the trained eyes and observational skill of the natives and could not immediately see the small group.
?Because the campo turns green in the rainy season and water is plentiful, the horses stray far from the ranch. Don Tomas says it is Alazán who leads them away.?
Donato was feeling less timid and very curious about the horses.
    ?Who is Alazán??
?Born on the Pacific Coast west of here, Alazán is a horse of a rare color; fiery red like the setting sun. Tan hermoso! What a beauty! They say his dam strayed from her usual grazing territory and fell in love with a chestnut stallion. So, Alazán, he is a love child, no??
While Donato and the old lady were talking, they heard a distant sound like thunder rolling down the nearby arroyo bed. In a few minutes, a herd of horses, mostly bays and grays, galloped up the path leading to the watering trough in the largest corral. No dust rose from their hooves as they pounded the resilient, red adobe clay that still held moisture from the last rain. Donato counted their heads as they raced by, ??cuarenta y nueve, cinquenta, cincuenta y uno, cincuenta y dos!? There were fifty-two head!
Smooth, polished contours formed the gleaming surfaces on those undulating bodies. The red bays? gold and flame-orange tones contrasted with their black manes and tails. Dark roans and grays shone with muted highlights while honey buckskins, duns, and grays glistened in the sunlight. There were no chestnuts.
The sight of the galloping herd caused Donato to remember his younger sister, Ana, who had loved horses. ?Ana,? he whispered, ?I wonder if the horses in Heaven look like these??
The last animal to follow the herd was the most beautiful creature Donato had ever seen or, surely, was ever likely to see again. The myriad of fine silvery hairs interspersed throughout his black, glossy coat glistened with a varnished liquid sheen as though the tips had been dipped in egg white, and the silvery white strands of his luxurious mane and tail sparkled like spun crystal. A perfectly round, white spot gleamed from the stallion?s forehead, accentuating his bright expression. The marking reminded Donato of the moon shining through storm clouds, encircled as it was by the dark hide of the animal.
When the horse stopped in front of the veranda to inspect the newcomer to the ranch, Donato noticed his eyes were as dark blue as deep water. His velvety muzzle was silvery and the horn of his hooves soft gray, not shiny black like the hooves of the dark-pigmented bays.
Doña Blanca put her finger to her lips. ?Shh, it is Espíritu, the wild azulejo stallion with the unusual eyes!?
Donato shivered. He felt honored that this splendid animal should notice him. He was not sure whether the unique color of the eyes produced the effect, but he thought the horse was trying to study him and look into his soul. Finally, his curiosity satisfied, the creature ambled after the other horses who were drinking from the watering trough and rolling on the cool, clay floor of the main corral.
?It is an omen the Azulejo stallion comes here today,? Doña Blanca whispered. ?According to legend, his grand dam and her owner lie buried in an unmarked grave overlooking our coast. Their ghosts still haunt our land?the land of Punta Prieta.?
?Tell me the legend, Doña!? Donato entreated, his dark eyes looking huge in his pale face.
?You should wait to hear it from Don Tomas. He tells it best.? The old lady paused when she noted Donato?s disappointment and then patted his shoulder. ?All right then, let us sit awhile under the shade trees and finish our story.?
?Oh, please do, Doña!? Donato exclaimed, his eyes shining with excitement. He took her arm and walked with her to one of the spreading jacaranda trees shading the beautifully landscaped garden slope in front of Don Tomas? veranda. There, they seated themselves in two comfortable wicker chairs with bright cushions. Donato listened eagerly while Doña Blanca narrated her surprising tale, her voice low and reverential, and her Spanish formal in keeping with her old-world traditions and natural dignity.
