Nice shot! Beautiful moon captured with great clarity.
Very clear and well shot.
You can clearly see the man in the moon! What type of lense did you use? I curious.
Nice job!

Thank you very much! It's a Leica fixed lens 25-400mm to 800mm digital zoom.

Congratulations on capturing the Super Blood Wolf Moon! You captured detail in the moons shadows. I like the context of the dark sky, but I wonder if the shot would have been better cropped into a square format.

Thank you very much Bill! I appreciate your comments. I think maybe a different crop may have worked better too :)

Beautifully exposed capture of this lovely moon. Gorgeous colors and framing as well as focal richness. I love the lay of light on the one side.

If I had an extra star I'd give it here. So its referred to a wolf moon due to it being a full moon? Or that it is also in January? The fact that it is blood red and it being the only one this year is all interesting to me. The January birthstone is the red garnet. My birthday was this month and I happen to collect wolves, know quite a bit about wolves and why most native American tribes held the wolf in high regard. I decorated a bonus room in my home in the cherokee tribe and mostly timber wolves (although the white wolf is associated with the Cherokee tribe . So this January full moon was the best birthday present (and only one). You really captured such a finely detailed shot of a lifetime. I'm enamored by the absolute perfection and timing of this shot. And you were willing to go out in 1 degree freezing temp. I'd say it was well worth it. Are you selling copies of this moon photo?

That is awesome! That your birthday is in January and that you collect wolves. Many Native American tribes referred to the January full moon as a Wolf Moon, mainly due to the hungry packs of wolves howling outside the villages during the cold temperatures of January. I think it's also known as the Old Moon. You are welcome to have a copy of this. Just message me and I'll happily email it to you :) I'm flattered that you like it so much. Thank you!

A very clear photograph of this year's only eclipse and blood moon. The capture of colour is excellent as is the definition of lunar surface. A beautiful picture. It reminds me of the moon mid to late summer on the lagoon on Ilha da Culatra. As it rises the moon is this colour. It rises with a sea and dunes backdrop. Within 15 minutes the red has gone but it never fails to enthraul me. You story is also excellently written and informative.

Sweet! It was raining here in Northern California (thank goodness) so I missed the whole show. So glad to enjoy the view through your lens. A really lovely shot with such beautiful color. Thanks for sharing the scene, Gracie!

I;m jealous. Here in Cleveland, Ohio (7 degrees) we were blessed with cloud cover. and didn't have an opportunity to view this
wonderful phenomenon.
Just a beautiful capture with exquisite color and detail. Well done.

Thank you very much for your nice comments. We started out with clouds but fortunately they dissipated! I would have been disappointed too if the clouds had stayed.
