This photo is well composed. I like the mirror like reflection especially.
The capture of this bird is interesting for the viewer because Horned Grebes are not often portrayed on FAR. The bird is sharp focused and shows well defined details of its body and plumage. The colors look nicely natural. The photo is also well balanced and framed.

Wow Grace, this is an incredible image and so so perfectly done! I can't find anything about it that I don't like. Your photos have been so incredible this year, this is just one of the many outstanding shots. Everyone seems to have a favorite subject, mine is flowers, but your photographs of your birds are truly beautiful and a joy to view.

Grace,
A beautiful picture of this beautiful little Horned Grebe wearing his beautiful breeding plumage that show off his red eyes swimming on the mirror still waters with it's reflection on it. Beautiful composition framing and lighting taken with superb camera techniques and sharp focus.

now if i didnt know what this bird looks like and someone tells me .." yeah the bird swims in the water and it has red eyes and its horny!"..im thinking what the heck is living in your neck of woods!..lol..interest capture. the clarity is great. the angle of the shot of this red eyed bird is great. the capture of the light is great. the image is balanced and eye appealing to the viewer. good eye and great job overall.

Hello Grace,

Being that you are a friend and will understand, I have to be very honest with you about this one. I was and am still having a real problem with this photo.

The Problem is, as much as I have looked and looked, I simply Cannot fine Anything but Perfection in this Wonderful scene.

It has Everything going for it Grace. From the sharp focus and Beautiful colors (love that eye and those cheek feathers), to the perfect placement in the frame and that gorgeous surrounding blue water which just knocks my socks off (well since I'm here on the beach in Mexico, I'll change socks to flip flops)

I was going to give this an Eight star review but as I am out of those AND Sevens, I am afraid I can only give a most Underrated Six.

BEAUTIFUL work here Grace. I Love it~ Steve

You are too much!! I'm reading the first paragraph and I'm starting to worry...then the best compliment ever! I guess the six star rating should have tipped me off, but I read your comments before seeing it. Must be rough being on the beach when we're freezing over here ;) Thank you Steve for the six stars and beyond, as well as your fun review.

Stole these extra stars from SSE'S closet. They were not being used so I thought I pass them on to you Monty!
Holy red eye and super clarity Greenie! ;) I really like the sharpness and glass like water. But I especially like his feet in the back! ;)
Fine shooting Girl! What was your shutter 8 millionth of a sec?
ISO to infinity and beyond? Yes?
