Grace,
A beautiful picture of this pair of Antipodean Black Swans swimming together eyes foxed below the water as they search for their next meal droplets of water falling from their beaks frozen in mid air by your fast exposure the trees on the banks & the swans themselves are reflected on the water's surface on which the light is dancing. Artistic composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus that allows us to see the details & beauty of their black plumage & white wing tips.

This is a shot for a Valentine's Day card! You capture all the detail in your subject and an interesting background. You capture such personality and emotion in your subject.

    You are too nice! I did try to wait for them to move into a position where their necks make the heart shape together, but they woudln't do it!

And a happy looking pair they make too! Your fine full and central composition offers us an enjoyable look at those beautiful swans. Exposure and sharpness are good. Well taken!

an excellent close up of this couple of black Aussie swans;
we had several introduced 4 years ago but only one survived: all the babies were eaten by cats.
I like that you captured the white feather: they all have it under their black wing.

    That is so terrible! Another reason people should keep their cats indoors, not just for their own safety but for the safety of other animals too. Anyway - thank you for having look Fred and for the high five :)

I am pretty sure that all swans are herbivores. Certainly the mute swans around my place are. A very nice shot. I like the apparent interaction between these two and the great colors.

Wow! This is so beautiful, Gracie. Wish I had a 6 for it. So great that you were able to focus on both faces and both bodies. The low light really creates a moody scene. I've never seen these black swans. I'm grateful to see them through your lens. Thanks for sharing!

    Thank you Donna. I think you gave me all your sixes this time! You've been too good to me :)

They are gorgeous. I like the way they are positioned in the water. I know you had nothing to do with that, but it is a good capture. The red bills really pop against the background and their feathers. The focus is clear and crisp. Great framing of the swans. Excellent work.

    Thank you very much! I liked how they were positioned too. I tried to wait for them to make a heart shape with their necks together but they didn't do that for me :)

How beautiful. You caught such a nice shot. Almost mirror image. Their individual feathers are so unique, as they lay in soft half circles and edges brownish-grey in color. The major contrast of the white feathers and the red beaks adds to these bird's beauty like no other. Beautiful job.
