This would have been a great entry into this contest Willie, but this is a contest where no editing at all is permitted. Not even cropping. This doesn't mean that I don't like the photo, because I think it is great.

The bird with the fish in its beak is standing out sharp and well defined against the background, and especially the water splashes are well captured. The stop action is excellent, and so is the exposure.

The format and framing is perfect and the bird has got a fine placement off to the right. Indeed a lovely and well taken photo, and with an excellent DOF.

Thank you so much! This is crazy about straight out of the camera. The rules said no editing. Are you sure? I will never enter this contest again. Why would anyone want to show something that is not their best work.

I agree Willie, but it is 3 FAR contests where no editing at all is not allowed. It is this one, the action contst and the landscape contest. When the rules say no editing, it means none at all. You are anyway more than welcome for the review.

This is absolutely beautiful. The action and movement you have captured is stunning. Focus, light and presentation is spot on. The detail from the water around the legs is great. Thank you for sharing it is excellent.

A beautiful scene with the Blue Heron fishing for food.
Good camera techniques and nice stop action shot. I like the storytelling with your image. Your background and movement in the water add to the beauty of your shot. Nice work and thanks for sharing.

What a fantastic photograph. I can appreciate the patience it took to just catch this moment. I have never seen a heron, as I live in a city, but I can imagine its feathers would be ragged from shifting about in the water instead of the smooth creatures we see on the tv. I love the light green leaves shooting out of the tree stump.

Awsome shot. Love how his wings are spread wide. The color on his left wing reminds me of the flag colors. Great action shot. I enjoyed viewing it.

Willie,
A brilliant stop action picture of this Great Blue Heron coming up out of the water with a large fish clamped in it's long dagger snapped bill the water drops dripping from it's wet plumage frozen by your very fast exposure. Beautiful composition framing and lighting taken with superb camera techniques and sharp focus.

Great timing and stop action. The details are sharp and the fish stands out nicely. I like how well you captured the splashing water and the V pose of the heron's wings.
