A beautiful Portrait Megan's Dog. Beautiful color palette with good brush strokes and blending and shading of colors. A nice balance of tones and shapes and colors. I love the eyes and the expression and emotion captured. Your lush background of greens and browns compliment your art work beautifully. A creative and talented art work. Thanks for sharing.

Excellent choice of obedient-looking canine subject with fine strokes & smooth texture rendition...
The golden retriever fur was convincingly captured.
Nice drooping left eye with a serious look...
It's great he's not looking straight into your cam.
I'm sure this was your shot and so you were painting this from your reference photo...right?
However, the sagging left side of his mouth looks a bit awkward already...
Is that a scar on his left eye near the tear duct? It makes that eye relatively bigger than the other...
The lighter fur near his shoulder has a concave effect -because of the black color that outlines his neck.
And so with his ear...
Fantabulous out-of-focus backdrop pops out the realistic rendition aesthetically!
Framing is impressive!
Superb up close & personal...
Still a fantastic pet portrait!
Thanks for sharing...

Dick,
doing commission work is tricky, because you see things and then ask the owner do they want it in the drawing. I once did a commission work of a cat that had one blind eye; I asked the owner did they want that or did they want me to correct it so she had two good eye, the owner said no, and when the piece was done, did not like it because of the blind eye being a part of the composition. Learned a lot, and now have people sign off on things I see that they did not see in the photo. People, it seems, will accept in a photo what they will not in a drawing.
You are welcome; thank you for your time and comments I appreciate both.
Cheers!!

I think this is a beautiful drawing of the yellow lab, I like the relaxed pose , the shape and structure of the head and face the thick skin on the neck and further back to show its position with the dogs position. Well shown light and deeper tones m nice work to show the ears, and good show of the texture of this dogs coat. This is a very well rendered work and it's a pleasure to view! I'm sure the owner was very pleased!
