So wonderful!! The detail and composition are fabulous. Love the color choices and really love the starry sky in the background. Cactus is a great touch!

Another beautiful drawing of your black horse with white mane. You do a beautiful job of shading the horse with blue. Love the windblown mane and the graceful positioning of the horse. Congratulations with your win with this fantastic image! Very Nicely Done! :o) Nancy

Isn't it amazing the way a horse flies? I live in Kentucky and we have a Horse Park in Lexington. It shows the strides of Man O War, and two other horses. I think Secretariet and a much smaller horse. Man O War had the longest stride. I like the series of paintings you have used showcasing this horse. The contrast of his blue coat and white mane, tail, and the front legs are beautiful. I know you won a contest, but I could do without the cacti in the picture and used a little less foreground.

Wow, what incredible initial impact! Beautiful imagery. Your technical skills are amazing. It feels like the horse is literally going to run right out of the frame! The use of shadowing gives it great dimension, the strong, smooth curves of the horse really exemplify its muscles, while the contrast between the horse's bod and mane add so much excitement and energy. What a fabulous piece of artwork.

Its good to see this one again. It's a special. I have no 6s left. But i remember the comp and you did well. I think I came 2nd. This has all the attributes to good imagination and skill in digital art and follows your recognisable style. I love the action of mix flight the take off has happened and the land g is to come. Lovely exciting colour pallet with a dramatic impact.

Another wonderful image Daphne. Congratulations on a well deserved winning image. The colors of the horse are so attractive with a nice sheen. The action pose with flowing mane and tail give a wonderful sense of movement. Great work and win Daphne ~ Steve

Thank you so much Steve. I thought I replied to your lovely review but must have forgotten to hit the save button or something. What kind of vehicle is that photo of you taken in -- what is the occasion? Hard to see what is what in such a small image. I might imagine I see a windshield wiper on the window and a strap over the shoulder like a seat belt, but this might not be the case at all!

I know very little about digital art so struggle to give a review on the technical side. I like the color of the horse and the way his tail and mane are highlighted. The shadow is also good.

I love the way you blended the blue and black on the horse. I also think you did a great job creating the shadow of the horse. Very simplistic yet effective.

Hi, Daphne, my friend. My problem is that I don't like painting the same subject multiple times. Guess that's why you got good at painting this stallion. I know galleries look for a series. Good luck with this one. Hard to smear when doing digital art. No waiting for anything to dry. Lol. I guess there is moonlight. I was not expecting a shadow at night. But, moonlight could cause a shadow, I suppose. The shadow looks slightly off on the left side (his rear legs and tail). And maybe under his trunk, the shadow should be bigger. What do you think? Of course, you won the art contest, so what do I know? Maybe things like that do not matter congrats. How did you win the contest when you just posted this? Thank you for sharing.

Yes, moonlight in the desert far away from city lights certainly does cause shadows. I could not include the full moon on his far side in the smaller FAR image. Also, this won the contest last spring or so.....

Just cuz it won the contest does not mean you should not want feedback or diss it. Tom likes certain artists here and certain writers on fanstory. I got six stars galore on fanstory, but, I had a hassle with him, so, I know I will never win a contest on any of his sites. Tell me why your shadow is correct. I would be interested in learning.

Oh the shadow is not perfectly correct at all, it is an exact copy of the horse on its side is all. There are many things about it that would not be true to life, but without a photo to go by its as good as I am going to do. The moon in the original is above the horse on the far side, so it is not extremely off the mark. Yes there seem to be many odd things about committee judged contests. I stopped entering my work because it would never show up in the list or get postponed indefinitely. Look at my piece, High Dive Farm, my best piece I think. I entered it in a cowboy contest the first year and it got moved to last year and was never entered anyway although others were. I guarantee somebody does not like my work or my weird life or something! My work in general will never be entered much less place in a committee contest, lol.... It does get chosen for digital art of the month though, so some other group or a computer must select those... I don't really care. A friend paid for my membership as a present, and it is a vanity site anyway. That said, for a vanity site (you pay for your fame$!) it is pretty good. There are countless fine artists and photographers, and it works well for making contacts in many ways. One reason I wondered about why my art never even gets entered into committee contests, is I spend very little money here, and until this last month, promoted my art on reviews alone. That might be they key; I'm not sure.... Complaining does no good so no reason to bother...
reply by Pamela Ruggiero on 05-Jan-2020
Yeah. Complaining only makes things worse with Tom. That is probably why. He prefers artists/writers that may not be good, but they are effusive in their praise of him. I could not believe some of the winners on fanstory. Misspellings, punctuation errors. Some bad stuff won over there. I am going to enter contests because they are free. After I get my neck epidural, I hope typing won?t hurt as much. But, your art is very good. Very a smooth textures. Maybe it is because it is digital art. There are others who spend little money, but seem to win more often than they should. I like your art. I post here to get feedback. I have improved my painting and composition skills based on the feedback. Yours, too. Thank you

On what page is high dive farm? I looked for awhile and did not see it.
reply by the author on 05-Jan-2020
Sorry, did not realize it was at the beginning. It is second from the last on page 2. The last one, High Jungle was also never entered in its contest. I was never notified or given a reason.

As far as I know my digital art is unique because I just use gradients and pencil tool so it is mostly like real hand drawn art. I had to stop doing real art due to hand injuries received in a couple of "horse accidents" that were due to people not the horses. I seldom use any of the vector drawing bells and whistles. I draw my work. I have had many compliments from digital artists saying my art does not look digital. Well that is why....

Note on Tuxedo cats: I read somewhere that some historical info suggested that the two cats to come over to America on the Mayflower were Tuxedo Cats! Having been a show and race horse farm manager and horse trainer etc. and involved in countless stray cat rescues, it is my opinion that colors in animals do affect their natures -- I have no idea why.....

I am sorry about your hands. I have arthritis all over my body. Six surgeries so far and am epidural soon. I found out on Friday that I have a fatal terminal disease. Nnber two as I already had one. I am not supposed to paint, but, we artists can?t help ourselves. Your art is great. I love it and others do too. You must believe that
