A shot well worth persevering for to take. Its turned out very well. And as you say caught event the light in his eye. His angle is a good one too that shows off his yellow breast with the blue/greyish back, head and tail in good focus. The red crab apples just add that bit of colour to it's overall effect. A lovely photograph

Hi Susan,
How tiny is this bird 4 inches??
This is a great shot of a small fast moving subject.
The little pops of red provide nice contrast. It's great for a bird nerd like me.

Way to go!! You stuck with it and got this beautiful bird. I wouldn't have know this was an apple. It looks more like a tommy toe to me. The contrast of the red and greed really pops. You got a real winner with this one. Great job!

Mary,
Thanks a million for your complementary review on the Blue Tit pecking at the Red Siberian Crab Apple not their usual food. The apples in this tree are the size of a Cherry tomato..& as they are full of sugar the birds love them in winter. For that reason I only picked half the crop to make jelly. THANKS TOO FOR YOUR WELCOME SIX star rating

I enjoy seeing birds I have not seen before. I know how hard it is to shoot birds as they won't hold still. There is several things I see. The bird gets lost in the bush and it is a bit out of focus. It is interesting though!

Willie,
Thanks a million for your review. These little Blue Tits are about the same size as a Chickadee.
The fact I use a compact camera makes it neigh impossible to get any bird perched on the far side of a branch, twig or leaf in sharp focus as the camera focuses on the twig. I did have an SLR camera at one point but rarely had it with me so missed many pictures. With my preset camera I have it on my belt it's small & light.

Compelling composition, with the off-centered Blue Tit hooked to the branch of the Crab Apple tree. Also, the bluish green cast of his wing and head feathers, lit,so,well, against the vivid green of the leaves is outstanding.

The Blue Tit is a very familiar bird for me, and I am sure it is hundreds of them in my garden. We have three feeding places for the birds now in winter, and I just love sitting inside looking at them.
You have pictured this little one so well, and the little crab apples add to both the interest and the beauty. Both the bird and the branch are standing out so well against the green foliage, and it is clear details to be seen all over. It is nothing wrong with the exposure either.
The photo is nicely cropped, and I think the bird has got a good placement within the frame. A truly lovely and well taken photo Susan, and with a very good DOF.
