We have something similar in Europe. We call them hover flies, but they're yellow and black and spend their time pretending to be wasps. He's certainly nice and sharp which is quite an achievement. Very nicely taken indeed.

I like how you photographed something so simple, and it makes me appreciate nature more because serendipity smiled on you, putting this fly on the flower just when you were photographing it. I like how your camera got the details so well on the fly.

Nice close up of this Hover Fly Cleo. To be honest I have no clue as to the species. There are aver 6000 different species so that is a tough question. They are also referred to as "Good News Bees" here in Tennessee. I think that comes from the fact that they will hover next to you and the sound of their wings is pleasant to hear.
The image is clear and with good detail. The petals of the white flower are just a bit overexposed but not something that detracts from your great photo.
A nice entry for the contest Cleo and I wish you all the best in the voting ~ Steve

It's a nice close up of a Hover Fly pollinating showing nice clarity. I understand they are very helpful like lady bugs in controlling Aphids.
I think the white on the flower could have been Controlled better by lowering ISO and using a minus 1.0 on EV.
Nice capture Cleo ;)

I like your shots as well as your art and this one is really well taken, from a beautiful angle and perspective
It is genuine in sharpness, contrast and lighting, is well framed and has perfect use of space
A very skinny bee in a perfect composition with a nice initial impression, well done

Very nice macro capture of a Hover Fly perched on a flower. Natural colors and tones in the scene, good DoF, sharp focus, good composition and well framed. Overall, a Very Beautiful Insect Photograph, well done!

This is a fantastic PAINTING Cleo! It is almost as real as a photo! Just kidding - I always think your paintings are photos so I thought I would reverse that here. This really is a nice close-up shot.
