Very nice shot of this hornet on the purple flower. I did not know that hornets have interest in flowers? The initial impact of clarity and color is beautiful.

Good visual impact. Focus is tact sharp on the hornet. Background is properly blurred to emphasize the subject. The soft leading line from the branch leads the eye right to the hornet. I believe this is one of those instances where the rule of thirds does not have to be applied. Very well done.

This is a great shot, full of vibrant color. The lighting is perfect and the red on the wasp really stands out against the green background. The depth of focus is good, but it's the colors that makes this really attractive to me.

I like the elegance of this presentation very much. While the insect is well focused showing well defined detail, the flower and background are soft. The light is beautifully used and appears soft also. The insect is well placed into the frame. I like that the body of the Hornet is centered while one of the wings reaches to the right, but the head is bend to the left, down to the blossoms. That the plant is reaching diagonally into the frame is pleasant to the eye. The Hornet is beautifully emphasized by the soft green sot at the background. The darker green outside this spot emphasises the insect even more. The photo is also well framed and balanced. This is a really well thought out and executed contest entry. Best Luck!
