One of my favorite birds to shoot. This is a lovely shot of him drying his feathers. Your focus is pinsharp. The composition with him just off center perched on the stump is so lovely to view. The dark green water makes a perfect background. The white on his back end is blown out. Other than that, a perfect shot of this beauty.

He might indeed adjusted his feathers, just a we comb our hair after swimming. Looks as if he won't give up. I am sure he catch something eventually. The photo is beautiful composed. The darker background emphasizes the bird and its colors efficiently. The Heron is well placed into the frame, right of center. The photo is balanced and has good depth. I also appreciate the sharpness of detail and the natural-realistic colors.

Thank you so much! He did catch a fish right after this and several more. He stayed there afterwards and continued to perform for me. I shot about 500 pictures that morning..

A beautiful stop action picture of the Great Blue Heron balancing on the stump in the middle of the water flapping it's wings to shake off the water & to help with balancing on the stump. Artistic composition, framing & lighting from above that highlights it's plumage so it glows out from the dark background. Taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.
