I thought it was a bill also at first glance. The branch provides a good leading line. Good color , especially the red legs of the bird. If one where an avian proctologist, this could be their poster. I concur that this is not a cormorant.

well it makes a change Fred to see a birds bottom instead of the head!
nice deep saturated colour,
good white balance, sharp detail on those delicate feathers.

Interesting view of this bird perched on the branch - must have seen you coming! I like the uncluttered blue sky background which shows it off well. Very good lighting and focus showing excellent clarity. Interesting composition. Suzanne

So many different titles pop to mind. But, I will not go that way.
A very good angle of view.
Good depth of field.
Nice details and textures.
Great story telling image.
Imaginative presentation.

Fred,
A beautiful picture of the Blackhead Sea Gull perched on the curved branch above you showing the it's backside the breeze tossing the feathers. The clear deep blue sky making the perfect backdrop. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.

merci Suzanne;
I think you're right: when there are no cormorant, I've seen already seagulls on this branch

you give me a smile with this shot - as usual a special moment and different perspective of a bird
excellent camera settings, well framed - great initial impression
I just imagine you hunting for these moments - well done

It's quite intriging and sometimes funny when animals or birds decide to turn away like they are ignoring the human. Good angle and lighting is great. A really good piece
