Nik,
A beautiful picture of this Historic Canal with two residential Barges on the left & what looks like freight Barges on the right the overcast sky with patches of blue is reflected on the canal's surface. On the left pasture land on the right trees & bushes growing along the bank. Beautiful composition framing and lighting taken with superb camera techniques and sharp focus.

I like the perspective view, the parallel lines seem to merge at the horizon! You have timed it well. The light and shadows, colours and the composition have worked out well. Good effort!
