congratulations on your win. Your art is soul moving. This scene catches the viewer and pulls them into the forest. Ominous feelings of foreboding rise up to stop our footsteps and cause us to contemplate the venture. that is what art is all about. It has to move us spiritually.

Great use of minimal colors and the richness of the red with the impression of light in the background looks really good. I like how the texture of the foreground looks like water with an attractive reflection of the light and shadows.

An amazing entry for the contest,love the red colors silhouetting the trees,silent sentinels along a dark lake or river,reminds me of a forest devastated by a wildfire,leaving skeletal trees and a blackened landscape in it's wake.A very haunting ,but beautiful image,I wish you all the best in the contest!

Beautiful. I love this rich hue of red. I love that it deepens more , the further from center it gets. The black silhouette of trees and the small surface motion on the water...taking it all in, it looks either like destruction of a fire still in the distance or there is a 1970's serial killer behind a tree. It kind of has that slasher flick look. I love it, whatever it is intended to depict.

So, I see your point. The painting is well executed. The colors are well chosen and the composition is very nice. But here's another viewpoint. Because of where I live, I see your painting as representing our burned out forest and your red the fire's glow.
