You did such a lovely job rendering the correct shape of this bird and creating such attractive textures in his plumage. I think the all the textures in this image are attractive. There is a nice amount of depth with your shading and highlighting details.

novel idea, having the subject in white to stand out against the background. I don't think I have seen a cockatoo, but he looks a grand fellow, or she as the case may be. I am a sucker for sunflowers so like the painting for the sunflowers alone.

Hi Brenda. I like your use of color for this. I think the bird in white is nicely contrasted against the green foliage. The bright yellow color of the sunflower may draw my off a little but nothing major. Nicely rendered impressionist painting.

Oh, I love it. Very well done. The colors are great, and so is the composition. I have a question, not a negative comment: When thinking about framing, should all the tail be included? It looks to also be textured. Very nice work.

Thanks so much for your postive review. The painting is on a frame so I theory doesn't need framing. The tail goes round the edge. Not what I intended. Initially the tail was there but the body proportions were wrong after much work getting nowhere I eventually left it and went back some weeks later. Managed to get the proportions correct but lost the end of the tail. :( decided to leave as an intended off centre as I did with the sunflower at the top. I appreciate your comment though .

Hi Brenda, this is a wonderful scene you have created with the beautiful white cockatoo on the center of the sunflower, it looks like this bird is in a lovely garden where the sunflowers grow, the bird is well created with nice shape and structure and well shown white feathers, I like the feathers at his crown, nice detail in his beak and eye. The flowers are well structured and you have applied the details and colors very well. This is a happy uplifting scene to view! Well presented! I wish you the best in the contest!
