This butterfly has gorgeous patterns and colors. The focus on the face seems a little soft but the wings stand out sharply with nicely defined edges. The markings make me think of the Yellow-edged Giant Owl butterflies. I think that is what this one is.

a lovely pin sharp image of what I think is an owl butterfly, the circles on the wings are eyespots which resemble owls eyes, I like the contrasting colour of the butterfly against the slight blue back ground, very well positioned in the frame. great light. good luck in the contest.

How you captured the features of the butterfly which such refinement is very impressive. The butterfly is well focused. The colors are vivid and remarkably realistic. The false eyes and color-markings on the wings are crisp. The softer capture of the plant and the shallow background emphasize the butterfly efficiently. The photo is also well balanced and framed.

A stunning capture of the unique butterfly on the greenery. Beautiful capture of natural lighting, with spot on sharp focus on the wings of the butterfly revealing good details and clarity in your image. I like your off central placement. Your image boasts natural colors and your background soft yet bright compliments your work beautifully. Outstanding work and thanks for sharing.

Beautiful image you have captured here. Perfect pin sharp focus on the beautiful butterfly. Your light management is really perfect. The composition is very nice with the placement of the butterfly and the plant. The soft muted background is perfect. Nice work!

Well captured butterfly. If its wings were blue on the inside it is a blue morpho. Nice detail and color in the wings, Nice sharp focus on the head. i like the way it is setting on the leaf, which adds interest and detail in the photo.
Well done.

a great entry to the Butterfly contest ;
this is a Caligo eurilochus, called owl Butterfly, originating from Central and South America; I hope you got a pic with open wings: a nice sky blue color Inside!

I suspect it was an "owl' butterfly but it is often hard to tell looking at the underside of the wing. The composition is very nice and the colors are great. Best wishes in the contest.
