I have never seen this woodpecker before. Very cool colors and beautiful long Downy feathers on its chest. I really like the textured white background showing light and soft shading on the right side. The details and colors on the bird are incredible.
Nice work Cleo :)

This is an awesome piece of digital art CLEO! your compositions are always perfect! To paint this bird you needed to study for it first, and you got it very well. The painting speaks for itself
And the artist notes are very educational. The colors are brilliant! The attention to the subject and details is remarkable! Bravo!!!

This is a wonderful rendition of this woodpecker. Your colours are good and I like the bird's pose. I like the colours in your background but I think that this painting would look better if these colours were blurred more to look more like a sky. Anyhow, love your work!

Thank you for your review and your input. Unfortunately I do not understand what you mean. The background is white. I did not ad colors to the background in order to emphasize the bird. :o)

You are welcome, cleo. Perhpas my eyes are going, or perhaps the art is small and not showing, but I still see shading in your art. If you look on your right hand side, this shade looks darker than the other side. Anyhow, it is still a lovely piece of art.
reply by the author on 06-Apr-2019
There is shading of course, in the background caused be the fall of light but there are not colors. Black, white and the gray-scale [shades of mixed black and white] are not considered colors. Sorry for irritating you by writing that the background is white. This was not my intention, i meaned white including shades of gray].
But still I deliberatly avoided a sky-background. This would not compare with the other paintings in this series, neither with the style I used for them.
reply by Joan McKay on 06-Apr-2019
Thank you for explaining why you did not use sky as a background. It makes good sense if you have done a series of birds and want them to be of the same style. Have a good day! Don't worry, you didn't irritate me, I don't irritate that easily, hee hee.

This is a truly colorful Woodpecker, and therefore the all neutral background is perfect. I especially like how well the textures of the feathers are brought out, and the fine high light in the bird's eye.

The brush strokes are smooth and accurate, and it is fine distinctions between light and dark.

The format and framing is perfect, and the bird has got a very good placement on the canvas. It us also a good balance between positive and negative space. Indeed a lovely and well done digital painting of this bird Cleo.

A beautiful image that is well composed. I like the simplicity of the setting that focuses attention on the eye and bill of the bird. Excellent technique and beautiful colors.

This is a very well defined painting of this little bird - I think you gave him live - a very expressive and detailed painting -it looks natural as in nature and that shows the quality of this word , excellent use of space , wonderful color combination , the calm background lets the bird stead out perfectly - great shadow and light application - a well presented work - thanks for sharing

always welcome, a true beauty and yes we all need encouragements from time to time - you have so much advanced - you even have no idea - but I was away and can see the difference perfectly while I had no possibility to create - as I lost all due to a virus hav to begin again...

No, I don't think so. I lost all my traditional artwork and most of my photos on film in the hurricans of 2005, but when I got dengue fever I was ill for almost a year and unable to work.
reply by Regina E.H-Ariel on 06-Apr-2019
OMG that is worse for sure what a pitty I did not know as we have a natural product I saved many lives of people with Dengue fever and it only takes 3 to 5 days and people step out of the hospital - fast like a space ship. So sorry that you have to go through that...

not medicine Alternative is fighting chemical medicine - that it what we do as we are persecuted for saving people = bad for their business, pharma kills - nature cures, prooven in 30 years fight, now we are very close to shift that old paradigm...making me very happy

my boy just walked passed (took a look) and says "bravo", just like a real painting. is very lovely and textured. reminding me of the old time books with such wonderful drawings and paintings of various fine types. i find this nature type of art not only more rewarding than photos but also they give you much more information, for educational purpose.
