This is some beautiful architecture which is such a shame to have been destroyed by fire. The structure and history of the spire is very interesting.

You have taken such a lovely photo of Notre-Dame de Paris so well before the tragic fire, and as you say, the spire is forever list. I hope they decide to build the new one in the same style. I was looking at the fire on Norwegian TV, and it was so sad to see this proud cathedral in flames.
What I especially like with this photo is the angle of the shot showing so well the spire, and also how lovely the branches on the left are working as a nice and natural framing.
The photo is also sharp with clear and well defined details, and the exposure is spot on.
The minor cropping is perfect, and the cathedral has got a very good placement off to the right. Indeed a beautiful and well taken photo Fred, and with an excellent DOF.

I love the information that you include with your photos it's always interesting and educational. The focus is excellent. The color is very natural looking. I like the way the tree offsets the cathedral and gives an idea of the scale. It's a very nice photo

Yes. It is a shocking tragedy, More so because it is man made. How can a man be so careless and neglectful. Fortunately the world has woken up and millions of dollars are pouring in for the restoration work which, I am sure will have state of the art safety features. Thanks very much for sharing the old picture.

Fred,
I hope you received my condolences note the other day. Not only did the world lose a iconic architectural gem but also a sacred space.
I as a Deacon for the Catholic Church am reminded that as beautiful as this structure was, it is not the Church. The Church is the people of God. By His good graces no one was killed it this tragedy. My prayer for you and the people of France is that they see the hand of God in the coming together to pray and to begin restoration of this beloved building.

Yes, that fire was a great shame. Such a pity that it was so badly damaged. Hopefully though it will be restored within a few years. Your shot here is well composed, sharp with good exposure. Nicely done!

A beautiful shot with the cathedral placed amongst the trees. I have never seen a perspective like this. Great colors and excellent architectural details.

So very sad and sorry to hear that this Cathedral burned, I'm glad you have this image of the amazing structure, I really like the placement of the cathedral in the frame to the right, allowing a view of the beautiful trees and hedges that surround it, the tree in left foreground works well as framing as well as giving depth to this scene, the s is of course, well focused, the image is clear, exposure is perfect, colors and tones appear natural , it's a perfect blue sky day! Your artists notes are informative and appreciated, the spire is amazing. Well composed and presented!
