Nice composition of this mother mallard and her remaining off spring. It's sad that they others did not survive, but that is the way of nature.Good focus and lighting, good job of cropping.

It is a pity to hear that this duck lost six of her babies, and I hope she will be able to keep the last 5. They look so sweet when they are small like this, and you have pictured them all so well. I also like very much the fine shine and ripples you have captured in the water.

The photo is also sharp showing such clear and well defined details in all the ducks, and the exposure is very good.

The format you have cropped the photo into works well, even if a bit more space above mum's head would have been even better. An all together truly sweet and well taken photo Fred.

I guess that is why they have such large broods. With the local swans it is rare that they rear one cygnet to adulthood but they seem to increase in number every year. A very nice shot with good composition and nice details.

Now it becomes clear why this tine ones are always close to mom - they face danger every day - are they just killed or eaten too?
Fantastic capture - excellent camera settings - well framed - a story telling picture, thanks for sharing

Sad..the clarity is great. The angle of the shot of mama and ducklings in the water is great. The capture of the light is great. The image is balanced and eye appealing to the viewer. Good eye and great job overall

Fred,
A beautiful picture of this poor little Mallard with her remaining ducklings after the Grey Heron killed the other seven & almost herself too. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.
