this is so wonderful, and almost reminding me of some long lost, prehistoric beast. saying long lost could be apt as we are wiping away such species, like there is no tomorrow. the youngster is so cute and was not aware of the striping across his body. such a sound concept to show adult and juvenile together.

Thank you very much for your encouraging comments.
It is believed that tapirs are one of the oldest mammal species on earth.

Incredible Cleo Girl! The details, realistic look on both mom and wee one are ahhhmazing!
I see them at the cage free zoo..always sleeping.
This is your best painting of the year! That little one is too cute for words.
Really impressed with your delicate brush strokes showing such tiny details.
Well done!!!
My new favorite of yours next to my Bittern. :-) :-) :-) :-) ;-)

Another more then excellent painting - you have become a true master and I love your choices of animals and the way you work their natural being out in a digital painting.
I love the simple background in sift shades as it lets these two guys really stand out in perfection - your shadow and light application is awesome- it is as perfect as a photograph as it looks like one even looking closer - handsome detail work on fur and face expression , very well done

This is a fine digital rendering of the wild life.Informative info too. I like the use of plain background which makes the images of the Tapirs stand out! Good effort!

Cleo, this is outstanding!

Always been one of my favorite animals... do not know why. Perhaps it just looks like a mish mosh of a lot of others put together.

But this is simply gorgeous!!
