You did a fantastic job drawing their anatomies. I like the details around the eyes and that you gave them catchlight And the roughness of the floor under the adult's neck. Their poses are very natural looking and the color is very good. This is a very nice painting

This is gorgeous Cleo! You have created the fur on the mama so well. I like how you were able to achieve the blended shades. The baby is also very cute and his markings are spot on! The Tapir at our zoo had a baby last year and it looked just like this :)

I love the image, and the very extensive description of the mammal. As a conservationist, I am always intrigued by animals from different countries, and the fact that this species is near extinction emphasizes that even more. A fantastic rendering worth every moment you put into it. Well done.

Such amazing detail with good colours that contrast nicely and bring through such lovely tones and depth.the subtle touches of the background add just enough without taking away from the main part of the compostion.great job

This is a beautiful piece of digital art. It is a shame that these animals are in danger of extinction as are so many other animals due to deforestation and also climate change. You have done a wonderful job of showing the fur on the mother tapir and the stripes on her young one. The only thing I would change would be to work a little more on the shading. The shading is good except for the grey that is around the face of the mother which extends from the ears to almost the mouth. Nevertheless, it is a beautiful piece of work and I wish I could give you 5 1/2 points rather than 5. It is a charming piece of digital art.

Thank you for your toughtfull and throught comments and your critical Input. I will look at the gray in the right corner. I tried to create dusk, because they usually do not move at daytime, but that evidently my idea does not work out. :o)

You are welcome, cleo85. Yes, dusk is kind of hard to create because it seems to enshroud you at night, somewhat like a see-through veil.
reply by the author on 23-Apr-2019
Yes, but I cannot put it over the animals because it defuses their features. :o)

If you would like to work on more challenging dusk scenes, perhaps it would help you to find a photo of an animal taken in the dusk and then study this photo as a guide for future works of art. I can see how difficult it would be to paint or draw dusk scenes in traditional art, it is a little easier to do in digital art, I think. Anyhow, good luck on future endeavours. I am a fan of people who do art depicting animals.

Thank you again. I mhave dozends of my own photos taken in dusk. I have painted dusk scenery, but painting a dusky landskape with animals in it is not quite the same as a series like my endangered animals. My animals are painted in the style of natural studies. I do not want to break the flow from one picture to the next. I probably will take the gray duskm out entierely, but over-painting painting will be the work of several weeks because I am planning to submit the series for a diamond-review. :o)

It is wonderful that you are doing a series of endangered animals. We are in an era of endangered species of all kinds, including insects, fish, sea creatures, and so on. If steps are not taken to slow down climate change, all of mankind will become endangered species, like the creatures of long ago, such as cave men and dinosaurs. Kudos to you for illustrating these poor animals and advertising how serious the endangering of species really is. You have my sincere wishes for the best of luck for your upcoming diamond-review.

Excellent work Cleo!!! (as always) You could do professional illustrations for nature books, they are THAT good! The detail in the fur is outstanding, and you added just enough background so as not to be distracting. Well done!

Thank you very much for your encouraging comments. It would be nice if I could do illustrations for books, but the society of professionals is to strong. A self-thought outsider has no chance to break into. :o)
reply by David Ruhl on 23-Apr-2019
I didn't know that! How about illustrating children's books?
reply by the author on 23-Apr-2019
I have tried that! I have painted the illustrations and written the stories and poetry, but there two, an unprofessional poutside like me has no chance to break into the societies. A few of my stories and poems are on FanStory.

These are fascinating animals and I have not seen them before, it's so impressive to study your digital creation of this adult and the young one, excellent show of the texture of their fur and the shape and structure of their bodies and faces, I especially appreciate the way you bring these bairds tipir to life with your creation of their eyes you even included a nice catch light. They are well created and so interesting to view! Well presented!
